Don't know where to start? Get a free 6 step guide

Hi there,

A lot of people come to the forums with a lot of questions.

Quite understandably, as there's a lot to take into account.

That's why I've teamed up with Bryan from AVnews (a trade magazine), to create a 6 step guide to creating your own discreet home cinema.

It's a 12 page guide that includes advice, installation examples and a glossary. Screens as well as other equipment is discussed and technical stuff is clearly explained.

It's not a product or brand pitch (even though we only use pictures of Beamax installations), so even if you want to buy a different screen, you'd do well reading it (even if it's just for seeing some nice installs)

Best of all, it's a free download that doesn't even require registration. As it's a few MBs, it might take a few seconds to load.

Go an have a look here: Beamax |

And...make sure to leave your comments or questions.

Thanks,

Otto

PS: If you have a Beamax screen and you want to be included in future guides AND make 75 pounds, make sure you send me your installation images.

If they're good, we'll use them and you get paid. It doesn't matter whether you have a manual screen, a top tensioned in-ceiling or a screen you bought from someone on the forums.

Re: Don't know where to start? Get a free 6 step guide

Hi John,

Thanks for taking the time to download the guide and read through it.

I agree that people could benefit from the additional resources of forums.

But, for different countries, there are different dedicated forums (htforums.nl in the Netherland, AVS forums in the Netherlands, homecinema-fr.com in France, to name just a few). So, it's difficult to include a nod to just one.

So, I have changed the download page to add a sign up form that will allow people to subscribe to updates.

The first update will include a list of available forums.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

Wiht kind regards,

Otto

Otto,

I'm currently setting up a Home Cinema Room and will be ordering a Beamax screen shortly.

Just like to say I found your guide very useful.

(TG didn't get where he is today without crawling! )

Hi TG,

That's great - thanks for your feedback.

And who knows - maybe I'll be able to feature your cinema in a next guide.

J0hn - unknowningly - gave me an awesome idea for the next one. It will be a lot more hands on and...will feature DIY cinemas only.

In any case - good luck with putting it all together.
