Talking CAVX "Aussiemorphic" MK3 Anamorphic Lens Powerbuy

(Posted with permission of forum owner)

AVForums Exclusive – The CAVX MK3 “Aussiemorphic” Anamorphic Lens

High end anamorphic projection brought to you at a new breakthrough price by Your Home Cinema.eu

Enter the world of CIH anamorphic projection with the CAVX MK3 anamorphic lens. This prismatic lens uses highest quality low dispersion achromatic glass prisms which have then been treated with BBAR (broad band anti reflective) coatings. These design aspects combine to produce excellent focus with minimal chromatic aberration.

The lens body is made of acrylic and the internals are fully lines with black velour to minimise internal light reflections. The lens is supplied with a matching height adjustable stand and a basic manual sled to allow the lens to be used in both fixed and moving lens systems.

Please note that you must have a projector or video processor that can apply the needed electronic stretch modes required for anamorphic projection. The team at Your Home Cinema.eu can help you with this if you have any questions.

The package includes:

CAVX MK3 Lens
Height Adjustable Lens Mount
Manual Lens Slide

The lens kit is available from UK stock for the incredible price of just:

£1350 inc VAT

Fully insured shipping is an additional £40

This is a massive saving on our normal retail price and is only available to AVForums members.

To take advantage of this offer, please post a reply in this thread and we will PM you with purchasing details.

This comment from the lens maker may interest those who are considering this lens:

There were several engineers in the room and whilst some commented about pincushion, they all agreed that the lens option produced a denser, more watchable image.

They have been so impressed that they have invited me back to show off the lens for SMPTE this week.

Just a quick note to let people know that we have supplied one of the lenses for the AV Forums review team to use. I am told that Phil was quite impressed with what it can do!

What is the 'lens body' ? Is it the case ? It says the lens body is made of acrylic, the prisms made of glass.

Re: CAVX "Aussiemorphic" MK3 Anamorphic Lens Powerbuy

Hi Chaps,

I don't know how Phil is getting on with the review but will give him a shout to see if he can give some feedback here.

The Lens Body refers to every part of the lens apart from the glass prisms. The holder and case are both made of a very sturdy Acrylic that looks great in front of the PJ.

Cheers,

Re: CAVX "Aussiemorphic" MK3 Anamorphic Lens Powerbuy

Hi Dave,

I live in lancashire and am getting my jvc 750 projector shortly. This lens interests me and i was wondering if there is anywhere that it can be seen working, or available to demo?

Regards,

Sammy

hi chaps. dave has let me know he is on holiday with patchy internet. he has seen the emails and will respond asap.

if the pjs are on a shelf/table home demo is a possibility. I have seen this lens and was quite surprised by the quality. it is as good as any other prismatic I have seen and seems a deal at the price.

Thanks Neil

Any chance of finding out if this will work with Vpl-vw100 and can it be moved onto a jvc 750 ior any other projector in the future?
at this moment I am looking for it project it on a 10 feet screen from 18 feet distant

many thanks

Re: CAVX "Aussiemorphic" MK3 Anamorphic Lens Powerbuy

Hi Guys,

The lens will work with any projector given enough throw ratio!

As a rule of thumb with 2.2 throw ratio or more then it is OK, below that we need to test on a per model basis.

On the 750 you can just about squeeze the image through with a throw of 2.0 but I would really insist that it needs to be 2.1 for safety.

Sunnyhd - your suggestion of being 18 foot from a 10 foot screen is almost perfect with a throw of 2.4! Note that I am assuming that your 10 foot wide screen is in 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

As Neil has said above, it would be possible to do a home demo in Lancashire (pity it wasn't Lanarkshire which is rather closer to home!) as long as the projector is at low level and there is a shelf space in front for the lens to sit on.

HTH

Re: CAVX "Aussiemorphic" MK3 Anamorphic Lens Powerbuy

dave, i dont actually have my projector yet (jvc750). For a 16:9 screen 3 metres wide, the pj has to have a distance of 4.2metres from the screen, according to the jvc spec. I could push to 5.2metres ( this takes me through the french doors in to the dining room) with a 2.35 ar screen, will i manage a 3 metre wide image? If not im snookered
