Headphones (not in-ear)

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a new pair of open headphones, not in-ear, so Shure, Etymotic and the like are out of the game for me. Also, I'm going to use them uniquely with portable devices (Sony D-NE1 and looking forward to replace my just-sent-back Sony NW-HD5), so I need a very good efficiency.

I've been reading of the Sennheiser PX100 and they seems pretty good, but never tried them. Do they sound as good as it seems ?

Usually I don't appreciate much closed-type headphones, but I've been reading good of the Sennheiser PX200 as well and would be interested in understanding how much real and not-bloated is their "slight emphasis on the bass" (would be perhaps beneficial with the HD5, see HDD MP3 Players - Best Sound Quality.

Any hint on these two and also any competitor would be greeeeeeeeeatly appreciated

THX
Peppe

PX 100 & PX 200

I have tried these headphones and they sound great. I would go for the PX 100's given the choice if your willing to suffer the risk that in noisy environments the sound quality may be disturbed.
The PX 200's are the next best thing but the 100's recieve all the best ratings from people like what hi fi etc. Best thing to do is try them out. For £35 you can't really complain. Comparisons? Not sure if anyone does a foldable portable headset!

Indeed that's what I'm realizing too: the PX100 seem to be more widely appreciated than the PX200. Would be nice to know from someone that has tried both.

As far for the competitors, although the folding feature is terribly practical as I use to put the headphone in my trolley when in my journeys I have to drive and not fly, I could ultimately give it up if a competitor should demonstrate to be noticeably better.

Swings and roundabouts.

The PX100 sounds better... it's clearer and has a better sonic balance. The PX200 has a slower, lumpier response and how large the bass is is dependent on the fit... which is in turn dependent not just on your head but also on your IQ

However the PX200 is undoubtedly a much more practical phone for travelling because it keeps out a decent amount of outside noise and doesn't disturb people around you.

As I said I use to listen to classical music mostly and almost always at low to medium volume, so I think I won't (almost) disturb anyone with the PX100 (I need to think this so to avoid the closed PX200 )

This said, that's the question: how much, if it does, can the PX100 compensate the bass loss I experienced with the pair HD5-PX10 ? In other words, how noticeable an improvement would it be, if anything, over the PX10 ?
