Question Sony NW HD3 - settings problem

I've just bought one of these marvellous MP3 player thingies I've heard so much about but Im a bit frustrated by a problem I've encountered.

Whever I change a setting - eg beep to off - it reverts to the original setting next time I turn it on.

Similar things such as backlight and reversing the colour scheme etc do the same.

Am i mad or just plain stupid?

How can I make my preferences permanent?

Andy

Are you turning the player off by holding down the menu button or are you sliding the switch at the bottom? I think if your sliding the switch the circuitry is actually disconected from the battery. Try just using the menu button to turn the player off and see if that works. If this does not solve the problem then i am as stumped as you.

(note: in the manual it says that your supposed to slide the switch when the player will not be used for 3 months to stop degredation of the battery)

So u mean that the battery off switch shouldn't be used for short term purposes?

fbloke, no problem mate!

Kingh32, i'm not too sure, it depends how you interperet the manual i suppose. but i personally don't use the battery switch (cos its too small and fiddly ) unless of course im not using the player for a few months!

The battery off switch is designed if you are not using the player for months at a time, so the battery doesnt drain or something (says in the manual). The menu switch is how it's meant to be turned off generally.
