RM-MC55ELK Compatability

Sony RM-MC55ELK??
Has anyone actually tested the Sony RM-MC55ELK remote with a Sony NW-HD1 player? I am asking as all the sites selling them on ebay say that the remote is compatible with the NW-HD1. However, a friend of mine says that the LCD screen on the remote didnt work with his NW-HD1 player. Could anyone tell me if this is a compatibility problem or is there a fault with his player?
