ditto, had to "initialise" the HDD in options to recover the lost space when SonicStage crashed during a transfer over USB1.

using a usb2 port on my system, 11gig (3300 tracks) of 128mb mp3's takes about 45 mins in total to "convert" and transfer to my hd-5.

** by "convert" i mean transfering as mp3's (applying the .OMA wrapper) - not converting to Atrac.

Let me give you a USB 2 tip that is critically important....

1) get a Belkin USB 2 card
2) get a Belkin USB 2 card
3) get a Belkin USB 2 card

Its sooooooo worth the extra money - cheapo asian unbranded cards can be a total nightmare which dont work AND crash/freeze your pc - adding usb2 functionality to a pc is a total minefield - the Belkin cards just drop in and go with any pc and they do a combo for about £20 which has 4 usb2 ports and a firewire port

Trust me on this.

I've got a D-Link DUB-C2 on order because it says it draws power from the cardbus and does not need an external power adapter / usb power lead.

Has anyone had any experience of these please?
