Music Player Advice

Hi everyone,

I've had a look around the net and can see lots of good advice on which music players are best to fit certain needs. But all of the conclusions seem to be forcing me into a compromise somehow. The requirements I'm looking for are:

  • The ability to rip FLAC (or something else lossless)
  • Some form of Android syncing
  • Podcast support (syncing to the android device would be nice)
  • And free or cheap.
The main issue I seem to be having is that technically Winamp solves a lot of these needs. However the Android app I found to be sub par as it had real issues finding music in my folders, I think there was an issue with the way the desktop application transferred them, they seemed to lose their ID3 info despite the desktop versions having them. That coupled with the fact I would have to buy both the desktop application and the Android application in order to rip/play FLAC (this always struck me as odd given FLAC is to my knowledge open source..).

I used to use iTunes but when I ditched my iPod I thought I could finally get rid of the awful windows port they pawn off that is mega slow, but I cant seem to find a good seamless alternative.

I bought PowerAmp for Android which is miles better than WinAmp, but without a desktop application to rip/play FLAC files, this has been a wasted purchase.

Any advice is welcome and thanks in advance!

I have 2 players. The first one is Sony walkmane-series and second one is iPod Nano 5th generation. Some of my friends usediRiver T10 players, so you can see it too.
