Question I pod touch some help needed

I currently have a 30g i pod classic and a nano, the classic is on its last legs keeps freezing and when i connect it to the laptop it messes up again. and the nano is fab but very small space so i keep it for the gym.

So after 5 years of my i pod classic i think its time for a change, and i fancy the i pod touch.

I want the 32g or higher spec.

But i have a few questions!

With the apps once you have them do you keep the forever or are they like demo's where you get them for 30 days or something and then you can't use them anymore?

and also if its things like traffic updates or rail times.. how does it get the information? i get with the i phone as its on a phone newtwork so it uses the internet and then you get charged etc but how does it work with the i pod touch? if your not somewhere with WI FI connection does that mean you can't use those apps???
Sorry if i'm being really stupid here but i just want clarification.

and also bat life i am happy with the life i get with my current i pods but due to this being so much bigger and having so much more on it does this affect the battery life??

Also will i just be able to connect it to my laptop and it will just automatically download my i tunes libray straight onto it?

Sorry for the stupid questions but its alot of money to spend so i want to know what i'm getting before i shell out the cash!..lol

Hi Cherries82,

New Ipod touch was released in September this year so i don't think there will be any new models in the immediate future.

All apps (charged or free) are forever. If changes are made to apps you will get updates for nothing. You control them exactly the same way as your music. You can choose which ones you sync to your Touch. They also take up very little room on the Touch. Check out the iTunes store for what Apps are available, some great little games plus lots of stuff for Health and wellbeing which could be good down the gym.

Interactive apps will obviously only work when you are in wifi range at home or where they have free wifi access.

Battery life for me seems pretty good although I mainly use it for music rather than video. Although it has been great on flights for watching films.
Best to keep screen brightness down and not use the internal speaker to prolong battery life.

The touch is controlled in exactly the same way as any other iPod. You can do it automatically or manually and just select the stuff you want.

All in all a great product for music, flims, podcasts, Apps, games and photos.
