Can I watch my (iPod) video on a desktop

I put a home-video on my iPod video, and a good thing I did, because my computer's hard-drive crashed and I have no other copies of it.

The problem is...I can't find any software that will play it! VLC and WMP both say that I don't have the proper codec for 'IV50' files. QT also refuses to play it. Can anyone help with this!?!

Thanks so much!!

If your iPod will play it then so should iTunes.

Re: Can I watch my (iPod) video on a desktop

Thanks for the reply!

It doesn't want to play in iTunes. I can't drag it into the library, and when I choose "Open With... -> iTunes", nothing happens. iTunes comes to the foreground, but nothing plays. At least with VLC, I can play it and hear audio (I can't see any video though...)

The format when it was pulled off the iPod was AVI. Does that matter?

Thanks for helping me...this video is really important to me.

iPods wont play .avi files. You will need a program to convert the file. winavi or SUPER for instance.

Re: Can I watch my (iPod) video on a desktop

have you tried the software 'Recover My Files' ? as you may be able to get back the video that was deleted, just do a scan for video files, i've successfully recovered .docs and images before
