newbie ipod owner question

hi guys
i have been given an external memory with some albums on it . i thought i had loaded it on to itunes as i can see the names of the tracks etc and it tells me at the bottom how many songs and time i have but it has not gone on to my ipod . when i highlight a track this message appears - the song -------- could not be used because the original file could not be found. would you like to locate it. please can anyone help this is driving me nuts

could it be that you loaded it into itunes but left it on the stick??

Or did you copy them across first?

i used the add file on itunes which added all the titles and album covers but it did not add the music to my ipod . i then went in to my music and clicked on 'h' drive and opened up an album and highlighted 1 track and that one went on my ipod ,but i dont know how. is there a way to get all the tracks on the ipod in one go ?

Put them into your my music folder (or desktop) first, I have heard a lot of issues about just adding stuff off RHDD or sticks

thanks gilford i did what you said and put it into my music and it worked a treat . i wish i had asked the question earlier, it would have saved me hours of trial and error . anyway thanks again i appreciate your advice
