Sony A818 advice (Mac user)

Can you use the Sony 818 on a Mac? Does a Mac only allow you to use iTunes? The spec shown for the 818 says you must have Vista or XP but doesn't say anything about Mac software !!!

Righto. Apparently the 818 mounts as USB mass storage and so will work with your Mac. It will appear as a drive on the desktop and you can drag and drop files to it. I believe it plays unprotected AAC as well.

If you're looking for iTunes integration, do a google for 'iTuneMyWalkman'. It's a cracking little Applescript that will sync nominated playlists to a specific volume.

Err right. As as newbie to MP3's and not an owner of a Mac (yet) I don't quite understand your answer but it sounds like the 818 will work when I buy one and eventually buy a iMac. Thanks for your reply.

Each to their own I suppose, however I disagree on both fronts.

Fair enough. I do still love my ipods Just amazed at the sound quality from the Sony.

I think we can agree on one thing judging by your avatar. Darkplace rocks!

Re: Sony A818 advice (Mac user)

I have an iPod as well as the Sony 818. I think it is down to personal preference in terms of ease of use. I personally find that the iPod is much easier to use than the Sony.

I don't think anyone who has used both will argue that the iPod sounds nearly as good, though!
