iPod and general MP3 advice please.

I want to buy an MP3 player and not sure what one to buy. My mate has an iPod with around 2000 songs. If I also buy an iPod can I copy his library to my iPod as well? I've been told it can't be done without wiping his iPod.

If it can't are there better MP3 players to go for where the format issue isn't a problem? I read a review on a new Sony Walkman A810 which sounds good, if I bought that could I transfer his music without wiping it off his iPod?

cheers

Hmmm - do you actually *own* those 2000 songs? No, you don't. So you are asking us which piece of technology would be best for you to use to perform copyright violation on a massive scale?

Not sure you'll get an answer to this one, to be honest...;-)

Is it illegal to copy an iPod where the original owner legitimately bought the songs in the first place? I wasn't trying to do anything illegal but I didn't realise that was..... ooops.

The copyright laws confuse me, if thats the case why do they make it possible to record off the radio, surely then thats illegal too?

yes sharing the music with your friend is the same as downloading online (as this is also called sharing) illegal.

I think Google is your friend; the Puritan force is strong on this board
