Which mp3 player, Sony just broke :-(

Ok, so I need an mp3 player primarily for the gym, but sound quality is the biggest factor.

My Sony walkman NWZ-A816 recently broke so I need a replacement. I loved the sound quality of this player when I used the custom EQ. Bass was punchy and well refined and the EQ setting actually made a difference to the music! I am a huge fan of deep thumping base

Would all sony walkman's offer similar sound quality? Was considering getting a "NWZ-S638f" or "NWZ-A729" as both are on offer right now.

I'm not interested in pictures or videos. Only the music side of things. Capacity wise, 2-8gb should be fine

Mp3's such as Zen mozaic, Sandisk clip and sandisk fuze also seem to be getting good reviews in terms of sound quality.

I'm tempted to stick with sony, but the A816 was my first 'real' decent mp3 player so I have nothing else to compare it to.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

the black s639f from my local argos @£101 turned out to be a s739 on collection at no extra cost. It is the noise cancellation model, work only with sony noise cancallation headphones only apparently....

they are all very similar in quality and their unique audio signature, with the exception of the x series which are apparently a step up
