Popcornhour Media Player

Networked Media Tank

Popcorn Hour A-100 allows you to pull in digital video, audio and photos from various sources for your enjoyment on your HDTV or Home Theater setup.

You can stream or playback your digital media content from a variety of sources, such as your PC, NAS, digital camera, USB mass storage devices (Flash drive, HDD, DVD drive) , internal HDD* and even directly from the Internet via the Media Service Portal.

It also serves as a NAS and a BitTorrent peer-to-peer downloader** to eliminate the need to switch on a PC or other device for this purpose.

The Popcorn Hour A-100 supports the latest high bitrate video formats (MPEG2 MP@HL, H.264 HP@L4.1, VC-1 AP@L3 in TS of at least 40Mbps) to give you up to 1080p high-definition videos.

In recognition of advances in Internet TV, the A-100 supports peer-to-peer Internet TV streaming technology from SayaTV, as well as popular unicast internet TV such as YouTube, Google Video and Metacafe via the Media Service Portal.

Re: Popcornhour Media Player

Anyone over here bought / got one on import yet?

These look like the AV media solution I've been waiting for. The price also seems amazing which the current exchange rate (I am reading this correct in that it includes a 240v power convertor?).

Questions:

How easy it it to set up as a P2P downloader?

Does it support housing an internal HD drive, and is there a maximum capacity (ideally I'm looking at 500gb upwards)?

Also, where would be the best place to source one of these from?

Re: Popcornhour Media Player

I reckon this might be in the wrong forum, it's not really portable, is it? It requres mains.
Anyway, it's very promising, apparently we'll be able to order from popcornhour.com tomorrow (the 30th), but I bet they'll be exhausted of stocks virtually instantly as there's a lot of buzz around this product, especially due to the price.
Dave.

Re: Popcornhour Media Player

Yes very interesting, I'm off to have a study now.

When you say that one can order on the 30th? Where from? Is there a UK distributor?

Cheers, Gerald.

Re: Popcornhour Media Player

Check out www.mpcclub.com for about as much info as you can get right now. They've started a pre-order list to get one of the first 100 units for $199 including shipping to the Netherlands (which will usually be $249 I believe) and then there is shipping to the UK on top of that but that includes an EU warranty. I've got one reserved. See the Popcorn Hour forum:-

http://www.mpcclub.com/modules.php?n...iewforum&f=179

and the network media tank forum:-

http://www.mpcclub.com/modules.php?n...iewforum&f=158

Network Media Tank is the Syabas firmware basically that the Popcorn Hour Player will be using

Had a good look through the info on the forums and I am very impressed with the Popcorn Hour and placed myself on the reserve list.

It is exactly what I am looking for a NAS with media player capabilities.
