Question Solid State PVR Recommendations?

Hello,

I am looking for any advice on buying a solid state recorder to connect to my helmet camera.

I have a Mustek PVR-H140, which I have used successfully for over a year, but the first time I tried the Mustek (an HDD unit) on a recent track day, it could not handle the shock/vibrations and I lost most of the recordings.

I have looked at this unit:

DV-500 from Dogcamsport
and wondered if anyone had any useful advice or experience regarding these type of devices.....

I use a 480 line camera and have been pleased with the results I have recorded, just want to get something which will take any amount of shock...

Cheers,

Adam

Re: Solid State PVR Recommendations?

I had exactly the same problem with my H140 on a recent touring holiday. The recording is fine until you start moving, then the HDD fails and the recording stops.

The Dogcam unit you've seen looks good, but the big SD cards are hugely expensive and if you want to record lots of hours of riding (as I do), the cost of big cards becomes a problem (I can't download the card contents halfway throug the holiday).

The best solution would be to replace the HDD in the H140 with a solid state FLASH disk, which would cure the vibration problem totally and still give the same functionalty of the standard H140.

I can't find a FLASH drive at a reasonable price though - does anyone have any ideas as to where I could find a decent FLASH disk for less than £200?

Doug.
