over-riding volume restrictions?

Hi,
We've got an Archos 404, and it's fine most of the time, but if you're in a really noisy environment, the volume is too low. I'm sure that I read somewhere, that you can over-ride these European restrictions somehow. Hoping that this is not just the case with i-pods! Does someone know how to do it. If you do, please can you give us very simple intructions, as were not too hot on technical issues!!!!
You've all been very helpful in a few queries we've had, so hopefuly you can answer this for us too!

Thanks

Re: over-riding volume restrictions?

I'd love to know the answer to this question too.
Damn, my mobile is louder than the Archos 404 (which is an amazing PMP btw).

Re: over-riding volume restrictions?

Just bumping this up to the top, because we go on holiday soon, and we'd really like to know if this is possible, before we go!
Thanks again.

Re: over-riding volume restrictions?

So far I have only come across s/w utilities for ipods. For headphones you can get an external volume booster which is not much larger than the AA battery it uses.

Re: over-riding volume restrictions?

the best thing is to buy a small headphone amp....an extra bit of kit to plug in and carry i know but excellent results
this is what i've used:

a quick post in the headphone section will get a few more suggestions...but you ears will give out before this one will.
