HELP - pet1000 problem loading disc

Hi there,

I have the Philips pet1000 and it when I put a DVD in (tried with several) all I can hear is the machine trying to read it. The screen message is "loading disc" and this is all that happens.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

The product is past its waranty but I have already sent it back to Philips to be repaired and am not happy that it is broken again (possibly). Where do I stand with this? Could I argue that it should not really break down twice in 18 months?

Cheers all.

Re: HELP - pet1000 problem loading disc

Been on the phone to Phillips and as the product is 18 months old they will not fix it without a charge. I pointed out that this cost me almost £300 and I don't expect such an expensive item to breakdown twice within an 18 month period.

He wouldn't budge but gave me an address to put a complaint in writing. Sending off the letter today but I don't think I will get anywhere.

One this is for sure though, my experience with Phillips hasn't been a good one and I don't think I will purchase any of their products in the future.

Can anyone recommend a decent repairer for my unit? I don't really want to use Phillips again.

Cheers
