Help with my ARCHOS AV500

I have just had an Archos AV500 given to me as a present. Ive tried to connect it to TV or DVD player to try and record something on it. Thats where I get lost. I follwed all the instructions (i think) but if i connect it with either the pod or directly to the back of the DVD or TV it tells me its not receiving a signal. It will play videos through the TV but I cant get it to receive video to record. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Once you have connected the Archos to your video source, go to "videocorder" in the main Archos menu and then press the very bottom right button and enter "contextual settings and within that menu set the "source " to "composite".
You'll then see the video you are trying to record.

To record to the Archos it has to be through the pod or using the travel cable adaptor, just plugging the lead directly into the Archos gives playback only. Also if you are using the pod it has to be powered from the mains adaptor.

Re: Help with my ARCHOS AV500

Thanks for the advice. I have managed to record via the pod but only directly from the TV at what I am watching. I am unable to record via the DVD player or any other source?

Re: Help with my ARCHOS AV500

The Pod is "one directional" if you can record from the TV then you will need to plug the same lead into your DVD player scart out socket. The set up of the pod is a pass thru device with an input and output. Obviously it can only record from the source connected to the input. If it can record from your TV scart then the Pod and Archos are working fine.

Note your DVD player might have two scarts but that might be for play through as well, the second scart socket might not output a signal. Also it might be worth reading your DVD manual to see what the various scarts output.

I hope this make sense.
