Is there a correct way to set up the TV( panasonic plasma) so that when watching downloaded films or even freeview Film4 you can watch it on full screen without picture stretching vertically( shape of cars and people look strange, taller ). I know I can watch it with black bars top and bottom but I not to happy with this format. Anyone found an acceptable way to set up tv to give best results using full screen

There is no way to do this , your either watching in its original aspect ratio with no distortion , that means bars , or your either stretching or cropping the picture.

The Choice is yours , I personally prefer no distortion , I have no problem with the bars.
