I have had my Archos 705 160gb (silver one) for about three years now. There is a problem with the battery, full charge - and only lasts for two minutes watching a standard divx video.

Is this a problem with the battery, and not the unit?
Is it common?
Where is the best place to get replacement battery?
Can I get a battery that lasts for longer than the one that came with the 705 (-when it worked correctly of course)?

I would think that after 3 years it is proberbly coming to the end of its life especially if its been charged a lot of times. My 704 is about that age and after a full charge it drops 50% within 10 mins and last about a hour and I don't use it that much. Check out link below for batteries.

When using double life batteries does the archos still fit in the tv dock?

Not to worry, if it doesn't. As can still use old battery when in dock if not, and double life battery when taking it anywhere. Just would be nice if it fits.
