Archos 5 wifi media player: O/S upgrades?

Soo - got one of these a while ago (see iBood is selling them cheaply now -annoyingly - lucky if you ordered one though!!).

Now that the 5 Tablet version is out with Android and the 9 (Windows 7) version is announced and on demo, do we think that the original 5 (which is still sold) can be updated?

I saw a YouTube Vista upgrade onto the 5, so it looks promising.
Win 7 would be tremendous, but Android would also be cool.

any thoughts about this or has anyone attempted any of the above?

thank you

The original 5 cannot have the OS changed to a Windows type OS.

There are ways to hack it to run other Unix apps but that is about it.

If someone was claiming to have Vista installed on the original 5 it was a spoof.

Re: Archos 5 wifi media player: O/S upgrades?

i should have seen that coming - heres the YouTube link:

YouTube - How To Put Windows Vista On Archos 5/7 Part 1

Part 2 is here:

YouTube - How To Put Windows Vista On Archos 5/7 Part 2

second one shows the device with Vista

but... it isnt an o/s replacement, just seems to run in a window.. - hum: not what i was hoping.
I'd ideally like to replace with Android - but if it cant be done, not to worry...

Re: Archos 5 wifi media player: O/S upgrades?

It is just a link to some web pages that look like Vista, that is why it is in a window.

Nothing new is actually running on the 5 itself.

This started as a bit of fun for the PSP.
