Re: Archos 5 review (headphones)

Define 'bad'?

If you mean will the volume go loud enough to cause hearing loss then no, it certainly won't.

If it is criticism of the tonal quality then I have heard this from a few people who believe it sounds a little 'compressed', but personally I don't have a problems with it.

For balance though I mostly use it to watch/listen to movies and TV recordings not music and I'm using good quality headphones rather than ear-buds.

Depends a lot on the environment.

I use the headphones because I'm mostly listening in flight so I use noise-cancelling headphones.

Around the house ear-buds would be fine I'm sure.

I'd wait till you can check for yourself before investing in headphones

Re: Archos 5 review (headphones)

Personally the ear buds with the ARCHOS 5 are a bit rubbish. I don't like ear buds anyway as they tend to fall out of my greasy ears, but added to that the qaulity isn't that great.

I use it now with a set of Sennheiser HD202s which cover the ear and cut out a lot of external sound. I like them as a budget set and think the quality of the sound is very good. I am sure you can get a lot better and perhaps the A5 is not the best music player, but I think you can get a much better sounds than what you get out of the box, with a small outlay on some new cans......I think the 202s were under £15 from play when I got them...and the volume is fine for me....
