Archos Timer Record Query

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and had a search for my query but no luck.

Basically I'm looking for an Archos or similar piece of hardware that allows me to record a least 20 hours of footage...however I need a portable unit to be able to attach a DC power supply, a CCTV camera (that will be powered independently) and finally (& this seems to be the tricky bit!) schedule recordings. I'm aware that the Archos can record specific programs, however I need to be able to set up specific times - say Thursday 0700 - 1000, Thursday 1600 - 1900 and Saturday 1200 - 1600 and leave the unit to start and stop (and ideally go into standby when it's not recording). I know it seems like a odd request, but all the units I've seen seem to advanced for my needs!

Thanks in advance for any help.

Neil

Archos does allow you to set up manual recordings, you can download the appropriate manual from the Archos website, I suggest you check there for the specifics.

Re: Archos Timer Record Query

Thanks for that - I'll have a look and see if it has enough entries for putting in multiple sessions to record.

Thanks again and I'll no doubt be back on with some more new member queries!

Re: Archos Timer Record Query

Sorry, another daft query, I'm really sorry.

I would also need the unit to have a time/date stamp, preferably hh:mm:ss - is this possible on the Archos? If so, which is the most suited model for me - the AV500 looks like a good bet to me?

Thanks,

Neil

To the best of my knowledge no, nor am I aware of any other similar device which would do that either. These things are made for recording TV and movies etc. so there is generally no good reason to want to 'spoil' the recording with a time/date stamp.

Re: Archos Timer Record Query

That's kind of my worry, I'm basically needing it for good quality surveillance - I'll keep searching a hopefully come up with something.

Thanks again for getting back to me.

Re: Archos Timer Record Query

I don't suppose any of the cameras you are using are able to insert the date/time into the video feed?
