Archos DVR station won't connect to TV :(

Hiya
I've just bought an Archos 605 and DVR station.
Before connecting to satellite i wanted to just connect it all up to the TV and make sure i could get that right lol but i can't!
I have the blue, green and red cables in and the red and white audio and yellow video connected to out, then the scart cable in AV1 but on putting the TV on AV1 i get a black screen. Where am i going wrong??

Also i can't seem to gets files from my PC to the Archos.
When i connect it it shows as removable drive G. If i try to send a file to it it says insert disk. If i click on files on the archos while it's connected and click 'enable usb' it just disconnects itself?

First thing I'd do is use a pin to gently press the reset button on the base of the 605 so we know you are starting from a good position as a lot of odd behaviour can be cleared up that way.

Next, for the TV connection problem, have you actually pressed the 'TV' button on top of the Archos?

If you do not tell the 605 to send to the TV then you will just get a blank screen. When you use the button just press it once and wait, it takes a second or two to react but if you hold the button you will end up in key lock mode so just one press then wait.

Now try and connect to the PC again and see if the restart helped at all, if not then post again.

Hi Mark

No difference whatsoever

When you press the TV/LCD button on the top you get a slight flicker on the TV but then nothing.
No change when attaching to PC

There are two SCART cables in the box, one is for output from the DVR the other is for input to the DVR, sure you are using the right one?

If I recall correctly there is also a little black connector on the output one that goes to the D/S socket on the DVR and you didn't mention that one.

I'm using the one that has blue, green, 2 red, yellow and white and then goes in the back of the tv. Thats what it shows in the diagram?
The other one is for recording isn't it?

The output cable should also have a small black jack-plug, this is missing on the input cable.

You do have two SCART leads there I'm assuming? Need to ask as early versions of the DVR shipped with different cables.

Another thing to check is that you don't get the red sound and red video cable mixed up, but it does sound like you are using the input cable not the output cable.

Managed to get it on the TV now without using the jack plug lead. It doesn't show that for just viewing the Archos in their online video either?

Still have the problem of how to send videos etc via PC to it?

OK then, let's work through the PC problem.

Are you using the USB cable that ships with the 605 to connect it direct to the PC or are you using a different cable to connect the PC to the dock?

Is the 605 in 'media player' mode or 'PC Hard Drive' mode? (try changing and see if it makes any difference to the problem)

When you connect the 605 do you get the pop-up screen asking if you want to enable USB or just charge?

What do you see if you open the G: drive, does that just say 'insert disk'?
