New Podcast Time Table and Content - Please read.

Because of the time taken to produce and publish quality podcasts, as well as the availability of those taking part, we have decided to re-structure the way we publish future podcasts.

Sadly the first decision was to drop the gaming podcast for the time being as a separate program. Ian Collen the presenter is also a deputy editor of a popular magazine, so finding the time every week to produce a quality show was proving difficult. Instead Ian will still impart his gaming knowledge within the Home Cinema podcast as a 5 minute feature.

Secondly, Jason Bradbury who has been the consummate professional and popular news reader will be stepping down from the Home Cinema Podcast from the 1st of June. We want to thank Jason for helping us launch our podcasts and see them achieve the popular status they now enjoy!

The new look AVPodcasts will be as follows;

Start of the month – The AVPodcast Home Cinema Edition. This podcast will be presented by Phil Hinton and will feature forum and industry figures discussing the latest news and AV Trends, as well as informative discussions on AV Science and improving your system. This program will also feature various interviews with manufacturers and industry personalities as we bring everyone together to discuss our favourite hobby. We will also discuss the latest Home Cinema Equipment we have reviewed, Plus, Ian Collen will give us a 5 minute round up from the Gaming World.
Regular contributors will include; Neil Davidson, John Carlo, Stuart Wright, Gordon Fraser and many more.

Middle of the month – The AVPodcast Movies Edition. This podcast will be presented by Phil Hinton and will feature the AVPlay review team, Chris McEneany, Cas Harlow and Simon Crust. The podcast will feature the latest Movie reviews from the cinema to the home, the latest movie news and events in Hollywood as well as the always fascinating Roundtable discussions. From time to time we will also feature interviews with personalities from the movie making world.

By arranging the podcasts in this way it will allow us to produce quality material every month and help us release content to a fixed schedule. As always your feedback, comments and suggestions are always welcome.

We hope you look forward to our new podcast timetable and enjoy the content, thank you for listening to the AVPodcasts!

This is sad news but understandable.
I listened to all the podcasts on my journey to work. The gaming podcast will be especially missed. Thanks to everyone for the hardwork they have put into these

Thanks everyone for all your hard work, it must be hard to fit the podcasts in around other commitments. I was wondering where the podcasts had gone, so now I'm looking forward to the new format!

Just one minor suggestion: would it not make more sense to insert the five-minute Gaming segment into the Movies podcast, as I'd have thought it would fit better into a "content" oriented podcast rather than the more "hardware" oriented edition? Just a thought, anyway.

I've been an avid listener of the Home Cinema podcast for the last couple of months or so and will be looking forward to the new format too.

Thanks to all of the contributors, your time and effort is appreciated !

Thanks for letting us now about the changes.

We have enjoyed the podcasts over the last year and to be honest, I was surprised that you were able to keep up the regularity and length of them. Some times I didn't have time to listen to all three during a week before the next podcast became available.

I notice that some of the familiar presenters such as Seth Geko are not mentioned as being on the new format. Are they disappearing all together or just taking a back seat? Is there room for a part time forum member to join you?

Understandable. AVforums podcasts are excellent. top marks to Phil for slumming it out in Italy ! Is Seth still around? I rather liked his dry sense of humour!

Re: New Podcast Time Table and Content - Please read.

Have to say as an avid listener to the Podcast I am personally gutted that there will be fewer of them. I was happiest when we had 2-3 a week and ever since then the schedule has been slipping. I think that so long between casts people will forget or start to lose interest, it was great when you knew that there was some quality informative entertainment available for those of us who spend many hours on the road instead of listening to endless repetitive radio programmes.
I certainly don't criticise the content in fact just the reverse, it is because I enjoy it so much that I look for more.
The format has been tinkered with every few installments ever since its conception and as long as that is for improvements to be made then great but for the most part it seems to be scheduling that takes the hit and this is one tinker too far IMHO.
Surely one of the original aims was to make this as professional as possible which on many fronts have been achieved but professionalism should also extend to reliability of scheduling. To me it is akin to ITV taking one of their top viewed soaps and just sticking it on when they feel like it once in a while, but being professional they do the opposite the more successful the programme the more often it is put on.
If it is a question of those producing the Podcast being so restricted with time constraints then maybe its time to be looking at this being a paid even full time position and if advertising doesnt produce enough income for that then I for one would be happy to pay a membership subscription for AVF to help cover these costs.
I would also like to suggest that the AV Play Movie reviews instead of being just written should be made available as audio downloads. I am convinced this would be a big hit with all the movie fans that would be able to listen on-the-move, I for one almost never get around to sitting down to read them but I know for certain if I could download to listen I would never miss a single one.
There is no shortage of material out there and the current crop of regular presenters seem more than able. I would love to see AVF downloads become as popular as AVForums is for a reading source.
I hope this is taken in the spirit it is meant which is a big vote of confidence to produce more with a broader spectrum that the extra time would allow.

Re: New Podcast Time Table and Content - Please read.

I'm relatively new to the AVForums podcasts, and have whiled away many a happy hour at work listening to pretty much the entire back catalogue. Trouble is, now that I've done that, I'm hankering for new content... and there doesn't seem to be any. Have these now gone the way of the dodo? I've looked for some up-to-date information, but can't find anything at all.

Re: New Podcast Time Table and Content - Please read.

These really seem to be slipping, is the movies edition for August just not happening now?

These used to be so regular time wise, they have really gone downhill in my view.

I appreciate that lots of people's time goes into them, but maybe get some new blood in if arranging a suitable time to record is becoming an issue?

Re: New Podcast Time Table and Content - Please read.

The late late august movies edition is coming, it has been recorded just needs editing, should be here in the next day or so. However we have been let down with the Home Cinema edition due to timing etc of those who take part, nothing we can do there.

Ok the movies podcast will be here in a few days, along with an IFA special on the Home Cinema edition, then end of the month we should have some "as live" podcasts from the Heathrow Show in London.
