I can say this. I've got a Samsung Blu-Ray player and on some discs, sound comes out when connected via HDMI purely to the screen (My amp isn't HDMI). On others, the disc displays "HDMI Audio not supported" and no sound is played. I wish I had a perfect answer, but even with a Blu-Ray and HDMI connected, it seems hit and miss what plays back via HDMI (I am connected via phono leads to my 3805). |
Hi Seth
Yes soundtrack, as in uncompressed PCM.
Your reply is how I understand it as well. But I wasnt aware of different DB discs displaying different audio options.
A forum member had been speaking about Black Hawk Down BD and using LPCM via the HDMI connected to a HDMI 1.1 AV amp. He found his amp which did support audio via the HDMI worked with this disc and PS3.
So I'm guessing the PS3 is just decoding and sending the uncompressed audio via the HDMI cable or not decoding the audio and just sending uncompressed audio.
But I got alittle worried when the podcast said that the PS3 supported HDMI 1.3 and unless you had a 1.3 HDMI support amp/tv your stuffed basically.
Have I got this all wrong
Thanks in advance
