Save to your hard drive and copy across as per normal.

You might have a problem in that in the past you answered YES to a open the file with Windows Media Player, and then you are not given the option to save to disk. No idea how to get around this (typical Microsoft).

Re: AV Podcast : Home Cinema : 7th Feb 2007

The problem I got it opens up in quick time automaticaly. There is a drop down box for me to save as sorce or summit like that. It's greyed out with the word pro at the side.So it seems I would have to upgrade to quick time pro to be able to save.

Grr, Jason!

Where did you get the idea that the Mac cannot play audio/visual media unless bought through the itunes music store?

This is very wrong. Just plain old wrong. What were you thinking?

Btw the only files I have found that cannot be used on the Mac are; DRMed Windows Media files... this is down to MS not opening the standard for us Mac users. Itunes is Mac and Windows, does MS not have the budget to sort us Mac users out?

In response to the item about allocation of available spectrum for HD DTT after the digital switchover:

I suggest readers / listeners respond to Ofcom's consultation by visiting

http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/cond...torespond/form

More details about the consultation can be found at http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/ddr/

It's interesting to note that Ofcom's analysis concludes that
1.39 High definition television, by contrast, was not identified in our research as a major source of broader value to society. A bigger choice of channels was rated more highly, for both citizen and consumer interests, and HD was seen mainly as a premium consumer product, similar to mobile television.

1.40 It is possible, of course, that attitudes to an innovation like HD may change. In time, consumers and citizens may come to expect some HD content to be available to everyone free of charge, just as colour is now. But the evidence that this will happen is not strong right now.
I think it's important that as many of us as possible repsond to ofcom and let them know that:
  • we do consider HD DTT as a major source of broader value to society
  • we rate higher quality HD DTT broadcasts as more important than a bigger choice of channels
  • that the HD user base is rapidly expanding and a growing number of us expect free HD services to be available now.

Maybe if ofcom realise they've got their analysis wrong we stand a better chance of getting some bandwidth reserved for HD.

Is anyone else having problems picking up the Home Cinema Podcast from iTunes? I can get the Games and Movies Podcasts ok but not the Home Cinema one.

Re: AV Podcast : Home Cinema : 7th Feb 2007

Very interesting to hear Yamaha's concerns on the eroding price-points of HD DVD/BluRay players - I would have thought this wouldn't have bothered the company too much as surely their first player would be a highend model not designed to compete with the bargain basement stuff like the Samsung? Furthermore if they jump into the dual arena surely the price-points, at least initially, will be more to their liking?
