On the subject of Game/Movie tie-ins, how about Blade Runner? This came out years after the film and had the style of the movie down to a tee. The story was great and I was engrossed in the game all the way through.

Can't believe you guys didn't mention one of, if not the best movie/game tieing, a game that was my favourite game for a very long time, Goldeneye on the N64.

Oh yes, nearly forgot. Alien Vs Predator

I'm not exactly sure of its history but I believe the coming together of the alien and predator universes began on the atari jaguar, although it may have been in a comic before that. The pc game ' alien vs predator 2 ' was excellent, and the eventual movie was good too.

Re: AV Podcast : Games : 13th Dec 2006

I should have recalled Blade Runner - I have a copy on the shelf above my PC, but to be honest, I never warmed to it.

Alien Vs Predator is a comic book title (While Alien and Predator were movies, the "AvP" was a comic book, hence my not mentioning it). As to the movie of AvP being good - you are seriously joking!!!

Goldeneye, as much as this will be blasphemy to some, I always felt was highly overated. It was good, but not that good.

You guys are way too fussy when it comes to movies ........I'm surprised you actually watch any as most turn out to be a disappointment if you look too hard and not just take them for what they are, entertainment.

I'd give avp the movie 7 out of 10 ( which is above average imo )

Goldeneye the game may look pretty dated now but at the time, and on a console, nothing could touch it.

Fussy when it comes to movies? LOL - No, I think you'll find the general concensus is it was one of, if not the worst movie of that year. I'm not fussy - I just know the difference between the good, the bad and Paul W.S. Anderson

I got Goldeneye when it was released, and as good a FPS as it is/was, it's still just a FPS and to my mind, didn't innovate the format greatly. But it certainly was a decentish tie in compared to others that we'd mentioned.

Goldeneye was the greatest first person shooter since Doom.

Don't forget: Seth has a "soft spot" for the awful Shark Tale, so that rather calls into question the accusation that they are too fussy when it comes to films (or games, for that matter)...

Well it's "got" Angelina Jolie in it, so maybe soft is the wrong word

Guys, please, I beg you - speak up!!

Your podcast compared to, say, the Hardware and Movies podcast sounds like a couple of people mumbling in the background

Re: AV Podcast : Games : 13th Dec 2006

There were sound issues on this podcast which I couldn't fix in time before it went out. We have had some issues with Skype bandwidth and headsets, thanks to Sennheiser we sorted the headset problems. The volume should be improved on the next podcast this week, although problems with bandwidth mean one of our reviewers had to use the phone to speak to us.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Silent Hill . The games are almost legendary, and while the film is average, it is surely deemed better in most eyes than Res Evil and doom?!
