In the podcast Seth didn't mention that there are four different control options in Medal of Honor Heroes. I think it is quiet an important detail because the default setting he talked about is a pain.

Just wanted to post some feedback on this latest Podcast for games. It's good to see these now split up from movies/hw and also good to see some advertising which will hopefully continue to support this great service.

First comments are that Seth / Ian - very good format - seems very unscripted and informal which is great - good tone to it / banter - and also technically- your voice levels are the same (Phil Hinton on other podcasts is usually much louder and clearer than Seth!). I like the format - not overlong and its also got some humour !!!!

Now to the negative point. As I do a lot of HDV video producing/editing I have a fairly ludicrously specified rig and as a result, don't have a console and have no real interest in console-based games. The issue really is that your podcast covers as much on CONSOLES as it does on GAMES i.e. the platforms that games are played on. And if this is so, then the PC as a games platform is sorely neglected.

There are some recent HUGE developments in the PC market (dual core/quad core processors, DirectX.10/ 8800GTX cards etc) - which will have an enormous impact on the PC as a gaming platform. And if you are discussing the technical aspects of PS3, XBOX, Wii then I feel that you need to get a PC gamer into your review panel to not only provide news of these developments but also of the games which are starting to appear to take advantage of this. Valve - one of the largest games developes is already looking at taking advantage of multi-core processing - and in a suitably equipped PC - the quality of these graphics and games will blow most consoles away.

I get a lot of into from extremetech - who also have a good podcast which covers this area.

The online gaming community in PC gaming is vast. I personally play Counter Strike, BF2/BF2142, Company of Heroes. And I think this should perhaps be touched upon?

I appreciate of course that the podcast is "games" but you guys ARE discussing the consoles themselves so why not PC? Or perhaps if this is the way it is - then the podcasts should be Av Podcast - Console Games.

Anyway- in spite of that - VERY entertaining.

I for one, will plump for a Wii (can't stop laughing either...). It seems more family orientated and with young kids I feel that we can all have a lot more fun with it than the hardcore gamers!

Thanks again

Mark

Re: AV Podcast : Games : Nov 28th 2006

The ironic thing is - I am primarily a PC gamer and you will find me on Guild Wars most of the time, I'm toying with NWN2 and have just purchased Dark Messiah (as well as having UT, UT2004 and UT2006 sitting on my PC, Half Life 1/2, Sin, Sin Episode 1 and one of my favs, Vampire The Masquerade!)

The problem is more that from the forums, the console gamers heavily outweigh the PC platform - which is a shame as I much prefer my PC any day of the week.

Having said that - I'll steer away from consoles a bit more and concentrate on my true love - PC's (Don't get me wrong though - I've got all the consoles too!)

Good to hear.

Main point again being that if the consoles are discussed - then PC hardware should be covered as well.

Then again, aren't console's just PCs anyway ?

Nothing beats a clan match at Counter Strike source TBH
