Another solid show right up to the ME 3 ending discussion.

I have to say I completely disagree with the hosts. Like many people, I loved ME 3 until the last 10 minutes. I'm not going to post a huge list of issues with the ending (NeoGAF et al has multiple threads that are a mile long) but I'm glad Bioware are adding some much needed closure to the end video.

As for comparing videogames to film and books - it's a silly arguement. Videogames are an interactive medium where player choice makes the experience - only 'choose your own adventure' and 'fighting fantasy' books allow for this type of interaction and no film I've ever watched allows me to make decisions that change the outcome of said film.

Cheers.

Glad you enjoyed it again mate, thanks for sticking with us too!

I think the debate about the ending just falls down to personal preference I guess. To me, if an ending isn't that great then so be it I might be a bit disappointed but accept it for what it is.

I suppose EA were right in releasing DLC which gives a bit of closure about some of the endings but it's sad to see that we're in a world where devs are giving in to peer pressure and doing something because so many people complained about it.

If I complain about the pap games that I play and want recompensing or something changing within them, would it happen? Highly unlikely

Thanks for the thanks I do enjoy the gaming podcast!

To be honest, I think the ME3 outcry was slightly OTT & the reporting was even worse but if you'd played each game for 60+ hours like I had (thanks to mutiple playthroughs), you'd appreciate the investment many people had in the ME series why many wanted an ending that provided closure.

ME3 is getting additional video to better explain what happened and it's not the first time a developer has rewritten an ending: Fallout 3 DLC changed the orginal ending and Valve changed the ending to Portal. Movies have directors cuts and in literature Sherlock Holmes was famously revived due to fan pressure if my memory is correct...

If time permits, please read of the following comment which neatly summarises much of the gripes people have with ME3 & its ending: Should Video Game Creators Rewrite Endings That Fans Don't Like? - Adam Felder - Entertainment - The Atlantic

Cheers.

Yeah I think it's just the way in which it was blown totally out of proportion because its likely that Bioware would have done something anyway without all the hassle.

Like I say I don't begrudge the endings being changed as per Fallout and Portal, but it's just all this silly business surrounding it that's a bit annoying.

Love these podcasts guys and always look forward to them

Any chance of some proper Nintendo console/game discussion though? How Xenoblade Chronicles never got a mention is beyond me. I guess it's a reflection of the forum traffic though.

I think I vaguely remember Ste talking about Mario Party 9 last pod
In all seriousness its a fair point. Personally I am not a Nintendo gamer despite me trying several times through deep instilled brand loyalty from back when I was a kid.
Hmm, i think we may have a little point of discussion emerging already

I'll keep an eye out in future for Nintendo titles and try and review them on my girlfriends console of possible.

Great Stuff. I look forward to the next podcast especially since Black Ops 2 has taken a Sky Fi twist.

Made a thread on it a while back and suggestions were made.

Cheers for this podcast - i must admit that i have only listened to a few of these - I do enjoy them when i do though. I lose track of when they come out and what is being covered in each of them. I am also on android so no itunes feed for me either - not sure if I could load a feed into google currents?

Will these ever be filmed and loaded onto youtube? I think it is good that you make reference to some of the months threads. Maybe it is worth mentioning any MW3 AVF clan ops and results etc?

Perhaps it would be useful to have a single thread, where each new podcast gets added. It is easier to track when new ones are posted on the AVF app.

Haha, good luck persuading everyone to do that

We record via Skype anyway so unless we recorded all podcasts together, then this wouldnt be possible.
