PS3 is fantastic, even watchin Freeview on my Pace PVR via RGB scart looks really sharp and crisp.

Not using freesat tuner so can't comment on that.

Treat yourself, you may as well go for the 50" -) .. I'm in a similar situation, considering the 46" but now edging towards the 50.

I would do, but the TV will be going into an alcove-type space & 46 is the biggest that will fit (even then I'm converned it may look too big)

No I didnt, however I do have it set in cinema and warm for now with the contrast tweaked down a touch. Dont know what it would be like in its Dynamic Mode.

From HDTV test review

"
Console Gaming

If you’re not one of the few unfortunate viewers with high retinal persistence who are extremely susceptible to phosphor trails on plasma televisions, high-definition gaming on the Panasonic TX-P42G10 will be a blast thanks to its punchy contrast, vibrant colours, lucid detail, and almost non-existent input lag.
Objective measurements placed input lag with [Game Mode] activated at up to 21ms faster than our resident Samsung F96 LED-backlit LCD TV. Even if [Game Mode] was not engaged, the TX-P42G10 was on par with the F96 regardless of whether [Intelligent Frame Creation] was on or off."

re: Panasonic G10 Owners Thread - Part 1

Price and performance are putting this at a very tempting level ... with the few 'negatives' seemingly of the type that can be resolved. Gaming performance is something I feel I could live with ..

Just a matter of when to buy .. like the idea of buying from JL but the 46" is maybe a tad too much at the moment and even then you think, "but the 50 is only X pounds more.. SO .. "

For now will just keep reading =)

re: Panasonic G10 Owners Thread - Part 1

How do you lucky owners rate the inbuilt speakers?

I was looking towards a 50" Pioneer but as they're now upwards of £2200 it seems more sensible to look towards a 50" Panasonic (TX-P50G10).

EDIT

Also, any idea on the size of the box the TX-P50G10 comes in?
I'm just wondering if it'll fit in the van

Did I see a mention of Panasonic offering 5 year warranties from 1st May?
Any more information on this?

I went and ordered a 50" G10 last night, it arrives on Monday evening. I can't wait!

I'm going from a 32" TV to this one and sit about 10-11 feet from the screen, so I will no longer need binoculars to see the TV

I'll take a few pics when it arrives.

Mine's on it's way, the Panasonic TX-P42G10-E. I'm curious to see how good I can get the calibration with the extra settings on the European model.

Thanks for this reply (and Turbo dragon's), it's most helpful. I'm liking the low input lag info!

I've been looking for a 42" plasma TV for ages and I'm now suffering from research fatigue. I peaked too early! I now just want someone to say "Trust me, this is the TV you've been looking for. It is good for gaming, shows good SD through a Humax PVR and wont do that judder thing when you play bluray dvds, just buy it!"

Just measured the box mine came in, its
35" H
54" L
12" D

Personally i think the inbuilt speakers are suprisingly good. I would be happy with them if i couldnt be bothered switching my 5.1 on.

The warranty starts on 1stMay, my paperwork is being sent off by the store after then to qualify me, you might be able to persuade a retailer to do a similar thing?

Anymore questions feel free to ask, hope this helps!

Si

I was also suffering from research fatigue and after reading most of the reviews I could find, I finally decided to take the plunge and order the damn thing. There are no reviews out there giving this set a bad rating. The 42" is also the perfect size for my living room without it taking it over completely. Non-judder Blu-Ray playback [1080p] was also one of the reasons I bought this set for. I also ordered a Panny BD60 Blu-Ray at the same time and have just finished routing the ethernet cable in to the living room for Viera Cast. All that needs to happen now is for the TV, Blu-Ray player and HDTV PVR from UPC Nederland to arrive.

Sorry - back to the warranty

Did the store you purchased your TV from confirm that a 5yr warrenty is in the pipeline hence the reasoning to withhold registration until 1st May?

I think the TX-P42G10-E is the better model due to white balance controls, and if I was getting one I'd go for that too.

Where did you order it from?

If you wait till the G15 comes out has a slimmer frame apparantly the 50inch
G15 model isn't much bigger than the 46G10

re: Panasonic G10 Owners Thread - Part 1

Former Sony X series owner here,
I'm blown away by this panel, Ive got the 46", not saying its a Pioneer, but for the reasonable price this is awesome.
I've left it running overnight playing the "break in" dvd, approaching the 100 mark, although not mentioned in the instructions I've been advised to take it easy for the first 200 or so hours so.
Has anyone else done this?,results?
Cheers
John

I got a five year warranty with the G10 I've just bought, so I presume its being offered most places

Maybe though the only shop I contacted today (Sound and Vision) only offered a three year warranty.
I asked about the potential five year warranty in May but they knew nothing of it.
