Try and see if the problem is still there when you set drive mode to 3. The image will stutter but for me the banding isn't there anymore.
The problem was noticed before by andrewfee and usman24 and it's supposed to become less after 475+ hours: http://www.avforums.com/forums/plasm...ml#post8851199
I still have some hours to go but I do hope it improves. |
You are correct! It is the Pioneer at fault. I just tested the opening lens flare at the start of Nature's Great Events with Drive Modes 1 and 3 - the banding issue was practically gone. I think Drive Mode 3 was actually better than 1 but there was wasn't much in it. As the drive modes only affect PAL material that would be why i never saw it with Blu-ray.
I remember seeing the judder on viewing with Drive Mode 3 before so never used it. However, Drive Mode 1 looks fine with the limited material i have tested in the last 30 mins. Hopefully the footie will look ok and i can leave it set there - banding problem over! Not sure why i never spent much time testing Drive Mode 1 in the past.
I have noticed that the plasma buzz has changed to a more noticeable pitch but i can live with that!
BTW i am feeding the Pioneer a deinterlaced signal from my Onkyo amp so i don't know if this has any effect on how the drive modes behave.
