Re: Pioneer KRP-A Owners Thread - Part 3

Talking of the orbiter.

If you use Dot by Dot (which will give you the sharpest image for 1080 sources), the orbiter does not do anything in mode 1.

Has anyone tried the orbiter in mode 2 with dot by dot? I haven't got around to trying this yet. It shifts the whole picture around without scaling it for overscan...so at times rows of pixels are effectively black.....

My understanding is that the orbiter dosn't work at all with dot by dot selected.

Yep, orbitor doesn't function if you using dot by dot in mode 1, for the reason you probably mentioned Jon, that a row of pixels would at times be indeed black.

I don't use dot by dot anyway. I leave it in Full as I prefer a little overscan just to cut out any possible dirty borders.

Hi Kingsfats. Is the Orditer noticeable on Mode 2 in "Dot-by-Dot" mode ?

Also, what about equipment set-up menus (like when you are setting up the TV or Denon amp using the on-screen display menus etc etc) will they "burn-in" ?

Thanks!

Hi mate.
It will shift the picture around (very slightly) so why use it? i don't.
Setup onscreen menus etc will cause no harm.
All the best.

But if it gets broken during shipping? It's a big piece of glass to travel via a courier.

Re: Pioneer KRP-A Owners Thread - Part 3

Does it matter in which order I connect my PS3, Sky HD box, and BDP-LX91?

I mean HDMI 1, 2, 3 and 4?

Nope HDMI 1,3 or 4 are the same 1 and 3 have to be enabled for HDMI though.
Cheers.

Re: Pioneer KRP-A Owners Thread - Part 3

I have just got my KRP 500A. I am a newbie and have few questions:

My setup is as follows:

Input 1: SCART from SKY (SD)
Input 3: HDMI from normal DVD player (non Blue Ray, outputs 1080i at best)

Input 4: HDMI from Sky HD (proposing to get soon)

Audio is routed separately to a Bose Lifestyle system.

What are my best settings for Input 1,3 and 4 (once I get it)?
Do I need to change View Modes each time I switch inputs (like Movie or Standard or Optimum).

Help in setting up each input would be much appreciated? What settings should I use for each input? Are the settings actually saved per input or are they common?

Welcome to the forum.
Some good settings here which you can use straight away they cover all sources.

Re: Pioneer KRP-A Owners Thread - Part 3

Just got mine 500a yesterday, replacing 5090 and i must say the picture is on another level (or my 5090 was not the best panel to say)..

anyway, does somebody knows if 500a passes through audio via optical?
my situation is that Im using Popcorn Hour, which is set to passthrough audio via hdmi, then the 500a mediabox is conected via optical to logitech z5500 which has DTS decoder. But I cant get the sound pass mediabox. Are there any settings needs to be made?

Hi.
HDMI in will be stereo only out via the optical,so it "should" work for that.
All the best.

Re: Pioneer KRP-A Owners Thread - Part 3

Anyone know how to receive BBC HD freeview on KRP500 without subscribing to Sky HD?

I do not have a normal terrestrial antennae (old listed buidling) so cannot tune either analogue or digital terrestrial. I have Sky+ (not HD) through communal dish system; and have wired it to KRP500 on Scart1.

I then bought a satelliter splitter and wired one of the satellite LNB inputs into the KRP500. The Sky+ box is running as normal.

Tuned the KRP500 to receive sat channels, it auto-tuned about 30 channels but not BBC HD, or any other HD.

Does anyone know what exact settings of KRP500 do I use to tune into BB HD.

Whata are the settings for satelliter tuner? Single satellite, SMATV, All freq, etc...

There are loads of settings - could you please elaborate exact steps on KRP500 to get BBC HD?

53" wide, 35" high and 14" depth, so unless you have a very big car, its a van job.

I got mine in January from the Home Cinema Centre based in Scotland. They are an approved pioneer reseller. I got my 500A for £2000 delivered next day. It was part of the January sale. Got the offical 5 year warranty too

Ask for a guy called Daniel Bland. Tel: 0131 229 9350 He was very helpfull at the time. Not sure what prices are like now though....

If I understand correctly, and haven't misinterpreted your comments: you really need a direct feed into the tuner box (rather than via a splitter). The tuner needs to control the polarisation, and doing a channel search otherwise will only show a limited number of channels. I split one of the feeds into my Sky box when my 500A first arrived, and sometimes I could watch BBC HD, and sometimes I couldn't, so I bit the bullet and ran another cable from my quad LNB straight into the back of the KRP's tuner.

Cheers

Martin

PS. I would, however, welcome anyone who has the time telling me how to sort out all the satellite channels into order, what settings to use, etc. Whoever designed that interface wants taking outside and shooting (repeatedly), as the whole channel setup seems ridiculously arcane (I had moved BBC HD to 'channel one' the other day, and it suddenly stopped working, so I had to hunt it down in (IIRC) the high 500s. I now just leave the satellite on the BBC HD channel and use my Sky box for everything else.).

Re: Pioneer KRP-A Owners Thread - Part 3

well, optical out is working on regular sd tv.. but its not passing thru the audio that is received from PopcornHour via hdmi. In PopcornHour the hdmi audio passthru is enabled and im running 1.3a hdmi cable..

I did test the PopcornHour at neighbor, but the audio was fed to receiver, rather than TV itself. Its not a biggy really, since I can run optical directly from PCH, but there is slight delay (arround 70ms) in audio because of video processing..

If i would manged to get audio via hdmi to optical out on TV, the TV itself should compensate that delay, thats why Im interested

Shame, if they took the money off instead I'd have one myself. One TV is enough for me.

Re: Pioneer KRP-A Owners Thread - Part 3

I have managed to get BBC HD working by doing a manual tune. The settings I have used are
Satellite Astra 2, Transponder Frequency: Single, 10847 MHz.
The tuner detects 4 channels, and one of them is BBC HD.

Add the channel, make it a favourite.

Also managed to get Luxe HD this way, but did not find it very interesting to watch, so deleted this.

I am now in search of ITV HD... anyone knows the 'satellite' & 'frequency' for ITV HD?

I have bought stuff off them in the past. Great company with good prices. Good service too in my opinion.

That is a great deal, pity the Pioneer lcd is supposed to be a bad screen.

Dave.
