Panasonic TH50PZ81B Freesat - Anyone got it?

Hi all,

Im considering buying the Panasonic TH50PZ81B in 4 weeks time. Its gone down to quite a low price now (£1340) and is huge.

I was wondering if anyone had it and what they thought? Is the fan loud ? and whats the power consumption like?

I was going to get an LCD to not have to worry about screen burn when leaving games on pause and the ticker on sky sports news. Whats the panasonic like with this? Im guessing things have moved on since i last brought a tv 2 years ago (screen savers etc).

Does anyone know of an LCD of same quality and size for £1300?

Thanks everyone

Thanks for the replies!

daveydw & ghostdancer does it have a screen saver function on it? Have these panasonics evolved and no longer suffer burn problems?

Also what are the chances of a newer model coming out in a few months?

Cheers

screen burn isnt a porblem unless you have a static image 24hrs a day. i've played gearsconsole 4/5 hours at a time without any problems. Obviously you may get a little retention, but that will go.....theres always a chance new models will be released but i havent heard of any news of it so suspect you should be good for a few months.

Re: Panasonic TH50PZ81B Freesat - Anyone got it?

I had the Sony KDL46W4500 for a couple of weeks but changed to the Panasonic TH50PZ81B.
Absolutely no regrets. Before even powering it up the build quality is clearly superior. Once up and running it was love at first sight. The pictures appear to be more realistic with great shadow detailing.

I was concerned that at 50", normal SD broadcasts would be unwatchable, particularly as this still provides at least 50% of my viewing. However, after 3 weeks of viewing it's clear that it's the quality of the original SD broadcast that has the most impact. If a programme is originally recorded in HD, like "Little Dorrit", then even on SD broadcasts, this TV will revel in the detailing of the picture. If you try older broadcasts, (Early "Morse"), well then, artifacts become more obvious at 50", But this is probably the case with all larger TVs.

If you've got a room big enough to accomodate this size, I'd have absolutely no hestitation in recommending this TV.
