Size isn't everything!!

The Pioneer is at an entirely differant level of performance.

Re: pioneer LX5090 or LG 60PG7000 ?

Really need more information before we can help you here.

Viewing distance?? If it fairly near i.e less the 12 foot go for the Pio usless the majority of your viewing is HD.

Source components?? Blu ray?? DVD?? Sky HD etc basically Standard or High Definition. If Hi Def both screen should produce very good images. If SD then the smaller screen should win out as the bigger the screen is the more obvious picture flaws become magnified.

I suspect/infact I'm certain the Pio is the better screen, better blacks, colour reproduction etc etc. Were it my money it would be spent on the Pio no 2 ways about it.

Also despite being a little dearer consider the new KRP Pio screens as once calibrated they are said to produce near bradcast quality pics. See the KRP Owners thread for more info.

Note KentHomeCinema are having a Kuro night were they will being giving special discounts to people attenting.

Check out HDTV Test review of the 60PG7000

Qualified recommendation, but if that is all you can afford and you want 60"....

Never mind the size.... think about the quality.....

Pioneer = Mercedes

Lg = Ford

If you got the money then go with the Pioneer, I've owned 6th / 8th generation Pioneers in the past and never had problems except paying the credit card bill

Also check out the Panasonics as well.

Re: pioneer LX5090 or LG 60PG7000 ?

The Pioneer is definitely the superior set, but the LG is very good too.

I would definitely go for one of those over a Panasonic. Look at that review above, LG have given some pretty powerful tools to be able to get a highly accurate picture out of it. Whereas these important picture settings are missing from the user menus on the latest Panasonic Vieras.

Where the Pioneer excels though is in superior picture processing and of course the infamous black levels.

Whilst the Pioneer is a top panel and comes highly recommended, imo at 12' you definitely want a 60". I reckon you'll find that to be 'small' too after a while. At 10' I wish I had a 60" (..TV )

The 6090 would be ideal but at £4k that's a hell of a lot more than the £1,800 LG

Re: pioneer LX5090 or LG 60PG7000 ?

hi
if you really want a 60 then its what you can afford,personally at 12 feet i think the pioneer would be best.i have a 42lg at 12 feet and while it does a good job it doesnt match the pio for blacks and processsing ,but it certanly isnt a poor set.

Re: pioneer LX5090 or LG 60PG7000 ?

Have a look at the Hitachi 60XR01 IMO it's a better set than the LG
once you've got into the picture menu properly, it takes a bit of setting up but once it's been played with it's a very capable set, certainly better than
the LG but it doesn't look quite so fashionable that's all!!!!!!

Current prices for the Hitachi are around the £2300 mark

Re: pioneer LX5090 or LG 60PG7000 ?

Having tested both together the Pioneer is by far the better screen, and it should be at the price. The PG7000's main problem is its lack of overall contrast ratio (Dynamic range) when compared to the 5090, the LG looks rather grey in comparison. Here are our thoughts in full and a check between the sets. LG 50PG7000 Full HD 1080 Plasma HDTV Review review at AVForums.com
