Just planning on how I would connect each component in my set up so that each input on the 5090 has only one component (don't want to have to go into the set up menu each time and swap the component).

Think I have it sussed out but need confirmation if SCART input number 3 can accept S-video.

Cheers.
Hi MrNPG.
Scart 1.Video,RBG.
Scart 2.S-Video,Video and Component.
Scart 3. S-Video,Video,RGB.
All the best.

Thanks King!

I didn't realise input 2 was not RGB! Wondered why my Sky box was looking so overly bright and crappy.. lol.. I had tweaked the settings to get it looking acceptable but plugging it into input 3 now (and moving the PS3 to input 4) has improved things alot.

bumtious did mention he would be updating the PS3 settings shortly.
My PS3 goes through my Denon first and if i change from "Limited" to RGB Full Range to "FULL" the TV crushes blacks change back to Limited and it's back to normal.
Now,with the HDMI straight to the TV changing between "Limited" and "FULL" gives the exactly the same picture the TV is detecting the signal correcly.
Note, this is with Video only. (limited RGB level or YCbCr (16-235) is video level)
So it seems my 2807 can't send the Full RGB signal correctly flagged or whatever,no big of course as Limited gives me the same result as FULL,which i presume is correct for a calibrated set.
Some more info here.
All the best.
So if you switch between Full and Limited you dont get brighter image in the ps3 XMB?

I do, even if i have the pioneer on AUTO.

How bad is it on yours? Really noticable? The problem with dirty screen is once you notice it, your eyes are always drawn to the problem.

Cheers.
Yeah its pretty noticable on black scenes, i saw it even when i didnt look or knew it

Hi Utking.
I've only tested with Blu-ray and no,the image doesn't brighten or change at all.........remains the same.

Are you sure your seeing the dirty screen effect? The effect I see only shows up on light coloured backgrounds during pans - skies etc. Black scenes in particular hide it almost completely (apart from over bright, light coloured areas in these scenes).

On SD sources it can be easy to see on light coloured backgrounds etc as well as on light areas on HD sources.

However, I do believe the effect is minimising as the set beds in. I've got over 250 hours now I think and it's not as bad as it was. I was talking to some guys on the US AVS forums and one guy said at 800 hours or so the effect had gone down considerably and was no longer a problem.

ALL of these set's have this issue though, I just don't think every one can notice it. There are too many people over here and in the US who have seen it that the idea that only some sets suffer doesn't seem possible. Also hdtvtest.co.uk identified it in their tests although said it isn't generaly noticeable.

Also, I have to say that as the set bed's in the picture quality goes through the roof! Seriously, as the blacks get blacker, the whites get whiter and the detail get's even better you will find that the dirty screen effect is less noticeable as the actual core picture quality becomes mind blowing.
I am the worst person to see this effect as I obsess over every little detail but just recently I have finally begun to look at HD sources and say; "WOW - now that is HD". I don't notice the effect as much and when I do it's over in a few seconds then back to the best HD picture I've ever seen.

This is the best panel out there at the moment and I can't recommend it enough..

hi mate do you see the colour shift on your panel i do i am hoping it gets less as it runs in somtimes it get abit on my nerves

I haven't noticed anything like that mate - what does it look like and when does it happen?

Also, do you notice the dirty screen effect at all?

Any news on when we'll be able to have our sets ISF'd? Been away for a while and was wondering if anything had happened on the software front!?

Re: Pioneer 9G Owners Thread

Please tell me dirty-screen effect and uneven uniformity is not a major problem with these sets.

Thanks.

There is blotching on mine on a completely black image (not just with no signal). But it's only noticeable in a dark room and, because I now keep a small amount of ambient light, I don't notice it any more unless I turn off the lights completely to watch a horror

I tried to take a photo of the blotching but couldn't capture it, even with maximum ISO (1600) and exposure of 20 seconds.

News from here is that the Sencore software for the 9G screens will be available very shortly.

ISF day and night modes will then be available.

Got sent the beta last week and it does not work, works with an 8G, crashes on a 9G.

It took them 3 weeks to send this version out after the last reported issues.

I've got a second beta release of controlCal to test and this looks promising.

The showroom sets look good and I've got 2 (nameless) volenteers that will be done next week and hopefully we'll be good to go.

The profiles for the KRP's look like they will be different so they may be a delay there but should be ready by the time sets are ready to be calibrated.

hi all i noticed the tv has a light sensor is this any good will it make much diffrence to daytime viewing and i would of thought there would be diffrent settings ?? or is this used with the ISF day/night settings ?

also do you keep getting the input info popping up on sky and freeview when watching it seems to happen when the adverts come on or if your channel hoping on some chaneels it comes up ?

also is it poss to activate the day/night settings without a proper cal i mean so you could just use it to set up 2 inputs without paying £300 to just activare it or is this not poss and if you can can it invalidate your warrenty ?

You can get your screen ISF'd without using the "ISF Day/Night" modes. But if you want to use these modes you'll have to wait just a little bit longer.

I would say it is like opening up the bonnet of your car and attempting to bodge your way into the ECU to play around with fuel injection settings. It really isn't something for a novice to do and might possibly screw your tv up. Warranty would certainly be invalid if they found out what you had been screwing with. Playing around with the firmware and vital control settings is best left to the experts

Hi Meridius.
The light sensor would be not be used with a calibration. The ISF settings (Day/night) don't have to be set-up for one setting for daytime viewing and the other for night-time viewing.
You get two ISF settings per Input and can be used for whatever you have connected to that Input.
Will not affect the warranty.
All the best.

Yes, this happens when the adverts are signalled as a different format to the program (e.g. program is 4:3 and ads 16:9). TV is just doing what it is supposed to...

Just wanted to hear if anyone got settings for xbox until I tried your settings.

But who know, they might work with the X360 as well. I'll let you know when I have tried them
Hey Slingshot. Tried your ps3 settings last night.
They're pretty good and i'll stick with them until someone post some xbox360(hdmi 1080p) settings. Thanks mate!

Re: Pioneer 9G Owners Thread

Okay, having been procrastinating about this for a bit, I now want a lx5090.

Where the best place to get one at the moment?
(gonna need a wall bracket as well, and an extended warranty would be nice)
