As I can send you many links as well stating that some LCD are also very good for gaming as per subjective feeling of some cusual players, then moving to the thread for the same screen you find people having issues with it.

The only way to know if a screen is good for high level gaming is to measure lag with a PC connected to the screen and run a timers on both screens in clone mode. Then take multiple pictures and compare the time difference between the TV and the PC. The closer it gets to 10/20 msec the better it is, 30 is roughlty ok, above 30/40 is a problem.

I would do it myself if I owned a 1080P laptop which is not the case ... (clone mode only allows same resolution on both screens).
Okay, i've had this TV for the past 3 months and endured some serious gaming sessions. Played gears 2 straight (HDMI 1080p) for 6 hours and never suffered any lag ever, also never had any screen burn or lag for 3 months. I also played Crysis through HDMI 1080p and never noticed any lag whatsoever.

Now you can carry out tests or whatever but trust me your just going to waste your time, even if there is lag you won't notice it, so what's the point?

if you want to buy the W4500 then go ahead but i would recommend the panny plasma for it's colours, blacks, motion and PRICE. It's up to you.

A high level player wouldn't play on a 42" Plasma TV. If you're a high level player, get a display more suited to your specific needs.

This TV is fantastic for gaming and has awesome colours at a superb price. Couldn't be happier.

I don't quite understand this, if you know a perfect TV which does also accomodate for high level gaming which one is it because many people are looking for one actualy ?

One of the top parameter beeing the input lag which was clearly at the advantage of the Plasma and still probably is, the problem beeing that this very value is not communicated by any manufacturer which is the source of many threads on every forums.

Now don't take me wrong but if the PZ80 has 40 msec lag then it's the PZ86 which is best suited. I am not saying that 40 msec is dramasticaly bad, which is the reason why many people won't notice, not matter if you play 1 minute or 10 hours. If you can feel it you'll know within the first minutes anyway.

Some games such as fighting requires moves to be executed within 8 frames window, which with 40 msec of input lag reduces the chances to be executed by a significant factor.

To answer to osmangkobra I do not wish to buy the 4500 over the PZ86, my opinion was to get the PZ86 in the first place. But this discussion started with the differences between the PZ80 and PZ85 and how come a review was detecting a significant input lag difference between the 2, which at this time as no answer.

Why don't you phone them and find out? If they are then you can order it whilst on the phone.
The JL website is showing as out of stock.

What do you mean by high level gaming?

I mean pro gamers. Pro gamers aren't interested in 42" Plasma TV's tbh.

In that definition, many people are not looking for one, as there aren't many pro gamers are there?

I play online games on my PS3 and love gaming. My 42PZ80B is perfect for that and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Macvaio, which store did you get John Lewis to price match? I have only been able to get the PX80 for that price.

Glad you got that sorted out.
I was not intending to be derogatory earlier I was just pointing out that it would be better for you to contact them directly rather than posting the same message multiple times on the forum.
I posted up the information in the first place regarding the Glasgow JL price of £699 and I am heading in tomorrow to pay the balance on the one they have reserved for me.

re: Panasonic TH42PZ80 thread

Could anyone possibly tell me the dimensions of the 42PZ80's
stand, panasonic say the depth of the stand is 32cm but they
dont mention anything about the width.

Can anyone help me out.
