Panasonic 42px70 - cheapest price?

Searching on the net for this set. Checked last week and it was going for around £635 but now its gone up to £675. I think as this set is being discontinued and stock is low then its pushing prices up.
Has anyone seen it cheaper. What is the cheapest price from JL? Would be handy as they have 5 year warranty.

John Lewis in Watford currently have it at £699 without the stand.

Nice one Dan.I phoned jl watford to confirm-- but no delivery to my area.Then phoned nearest jl store they wanted £799.I told them of Watford price (£699)-they phoned Watford to check and within 5 mins phoned me back and offered to match the price inclu free delivery and 5 year guarantee. So naturally--I snapped their hand off!
This is a cracking deal as most other retailers want extra £250 for 5 year cover which would put the base price of this tv at under £450. BARGAIN!

Well done on the new telly! I need the PED version myself and am waiting to hear back from them on a price match at £699 for that. Here's hoping...!

im going down tomorrow to see if they will match price for £699 and throw in the ped stand. i asked on the phone today and the ped stand is £99 and the cab is £139 - which seems a very cheap price as argos are selling this for £300 on its own!

I got a JL pricematch for £600 for the PED version last week (High Wycombe) branch - I think they may be clearing stock...

I've never seen it that cheap anywhere before... £699 seems to be the best price on this one currently.

Who did you get that price from? Or have you hit '0' twice instead of '9' there?!

Anyway, £699 is a good price with the stand. I'd say a bargain with the warranty and delivery included.

You will get the TV at £699 as they still have them in stock. The CAB is a great price at £139 but not in stock and will not be stocked again. I can't find anywhere to buy it at less than £299, anybody help?

The PED is also out of stock, but can be ordered in.

Phone your nearest jl store(check website).Ask for their price then tell them jl Watford branch selling item(without stand)for £699.They will check this and price match with free delivery and 5 year waranty. This is best deal so far - if you want the ped(may not be in stock) try to get them to throw that in but I doubt they will. I get the feeling this is a clearout job(maybe the next generation of pan is due--and that you can bet will be pricey!), so get one while you can.

my dad tried getting a price match yesterday with JL bluewater for a 42px70 cab but they said the cab is out of stock and discontinued on their system

this doesn't sound right to me - i'm sure they're still advertising on the shop floor

I bought the cab version from sound & vision in Bolton before xmas for £900. They do have it still but the price seems to have gone up to £999, which tends to suggest it is a sellers market and the cab version is getting difficult to source now.

i went in to JL today but they advised that the 42px70 is £799 at all branches. they phoned the high whycombe branch as i requested and they said its £799 there so thats the best price they could do. This price is without the ped stand. Everywhere on the net ive looked are charging silly prices for this set. Its gone from £699 in dixons the other week to £899. RIcher sounds have gone from £729 to £799 etc. I guess its because it is being disconntinued and the new sets will be a much higher price. really annoying!!!!!!

Don't bother going to the stores--phone jl direct.If you follow my previous comments on this you WILL get the set for £699 and delivered free but because they are selling fast the price will go up soon!!
Yes they are probably being discontinued,making way for next pan range--this is always the case with all tv's. The point is this one is an award winner at a bargain price-at the moment!! Any new pan range will be far more expensive to buy.

You can get a Panasonic 42 inch PZ70B for £899 now from JL if you are unable to get a PX.

Empire Direct do the Pedestal version of the TH42PX70 for 699.

Just got mine price-matched with JL Oxford St. a couple of days ago.

Yes for a price match the item has to be in stock/display at one of the empire direct stores, just ring a store and find a store which has one in stock and use them for the price match.

Cheapest I can find the PED version now is £745.99 at ajelectronics.com

I've demo'd the PX70, PZ70 and Samsung Q97 and, having decided that at my viewing distance the 1080p on the PZ70 wasn't worth the extra £200+, I'd decided on the PX70 (I marginally preferrred the PQ to the Samsung).

However now the prices on the PX70 have gone silly as stock dwindles, and seeing as people are having so much trouble getting a PZ70 at £899 (which to be honest is over my budget anyway), I may as well go for the Samsung.

In fact I'm just about to complete the purchase of a Samsung 42Q96 for £625 delivered from Dixons, which I think is an absolute bargain. I preferred the PX70 but no way was it £120 better than the Samsung.

Seriously though. The PZ is a fundamentally different beast (but not because it is a 1080 set). It's wider, and you can't get it with a cab (unless you upgrade to the 700). Hence, a non starter for me, it would just look too bulky with the extra width. The 42PX was only slightly bigger then the 37" in terms of overall size, and looks much better on the built-in cab than a 3rd party glass stand.
