Hello All,

I'm being forced to move in a couple of months having just found my ideal plasma!! I'm now wondering whether to order it given that I have to move. Is it easy to transport plasma tvs? Do they break easily? Should I just wait a couple of months and order then?

Transporting them is fairly easy per se - just make sure they are transported in the upright position. Don't lay it down or lean it over. Why ? Because this MAY cause the glass screen to bow / damage / crack while its being moved.

Personally, moving one as part of a house-move, with all the other boxes / containers that go with it, I'd wait until you're into the new place and remove the risk altogether.

If you're ordering from a local independent dealer, order it now (and todays price) for delivery later on - **some** local dealers will extend such customer care !!

Would John Lewis do such a thing. I have a Pio 427XD reserved at 1599 until Tuesday.

HOPING FOR SOME URGENT ADVICE GUYS!

I just took delivery of my plasma about an hour ago from Beyond Television, delivered by City Link

The driver asked me to give him a hand, which I did but when I arrived at the back of the van it was on its side

I asked the driver how he normally managed to deliver these on his own and he said "no I'm not supposed to but its a saturday".

I'd heard transporting on their side was not good and these forums seem to back this up.

I signed for it but marked it as unchecked. I've already informed Beyond Television of the issue and they just said fingers crossed it will be ok.

So Q1: should I even bother to unpack it and set it up, as even if the screen is not damaged I've read about the pixels being damaged? Should I just get them to take it back ASAP. Is it more likely to be fail long-term even if its ok now?

Q2: who else has had dealings with Beyond Television? Their reputation looked quite good on the web, but what are they like for returns?

Just fire it up and see. Obviously keep all packaging.
I happen to think from my own experiences that plasma's are more resilient than they are given credit for, and chances are yours will be ok. Even if its got dead pixels, i think this is due to manufacturing process and not the delivery driver.

Quite often you have to lay a plasma down to fix a wall bracket or something, but I guess it depends how many bumps and shocks it is subjected to in this postion that may make the glass flex or bow....

Have waited for this for what seems like ages so it is too tempting not to at least try it!

Main concern is possible long term damage that may only appear after 28 days.

Anyway will fire her up and report back...
