I have set up the wireless and the set is picking up my network drive so from here I can run films on loop (full screen only)

After about 150 hrs I think I'll go for mounting and run the set with auto switch off function. This will no doubt cause lots of shouting and confusion but thats life running low levels will also be used until i hit the 200 hr period and from then on in enjoy!

Wont be going for calibration at any in the near future as I believe this cost £££££'s

Not in any rush to get the set on the wall and risk being stuck with banners

So in short. Stop being paranoid, run combination of slides and films on loop for roughly 150 hrs. Then introduce to the room on low levels and a big stick for 50 hrs. After this I can enjoy all that this set has to offer

Thanks for the replies, this is really helping me to understand

I wouldn't worry yourself too much about IR. I came across it once and this was a static white outline from a videogame which would have been on the screen virtually uninterrupted for the best part of 4 hours. Good thing to note is the scrolling screen in the menu used to remove IR didn't do anything, but just playing a normal full screen TV show or something got rid of it very swiftly. I was bricking it when I first saw that something was showing up, but there is now no trace of it and as I say that was quite a harsh example.

As for the power cable mine is also wall mounted so the short cable was overcome by snipping the plug straight off and fitting a IEC Male to Female connector in the middle, this provides the extra length but also some flexibility for running the cable.

Ok, been living with this TV a few days now and I have developed a problem with HDMI with my Sony BD player(s).

My HDMI1 doesn't want to work anymore with either of my two Sony BD players, it was fine for the first day or so and now it flickers with lines and digital snow and just says "Mode not supported" after a short while with no picture. The only way to get it to work on HDMI1 is to reduce the resolution from the BD player to 480P, all my other devices work fine on HDMI1 at 1080p. I have now moved to HDMI4 and all seems to be working, for now.

I have all my devices going through my Sony STRDA2400ES AVR

Anyone else with HDMI issues?

Oh, and I have also noticed now that I have swapped to HDMI4 that the TV is very sluggish responding to the remote, it either doesn't respond or has a delay or it double responds to any signal sent from the remote. It does this with either the TV remote or my Harmony.

I am beginining to think my old Philips plasma was better

Done some further testing, the remote sluggishness I solved by simply unplugging the TV and plugging in again.

HDMI1 on the TV works fine if I bypass the AVR and connect directly to the BD player. If I connect the BD player to the AVR and then to HDMI1 on the TV I get the "mode not supported (only does this for BD). Now, if I connect to the TV's HDMI4 it works fine. Not tried any other HDMI inputs yet.

So based on this, either the cables are not up to it and for some reason HDMI1 on the TV doesn't like it or it doesn't like the AVR connected to HDMI1 with BD (ok with everything else).

So for now I will use it on HDMI4 and I will probably get some new HDMI cables to see if anything changes.

Always good to have a reason for buying new cables

I managed to convince myself I need some new cables to go with my new set. only because my existing cables are far too long and are coiled up

Cables are a cheap upgrade, my cables are very short, only 0.5m from my sources to AVR and 2m to TV. I will only change the 2m and the 0.5 one from the BD player as everything else is working fine.

I have my BluRay connected via 2400ES connected to HDMI 1 with no issues. I too bought new, shorter cables when I got the tv, so it's worth a try ;-)

Be good to hear your thoughts on the 64.

Ok looks like getting new cables is the first thing to try.

I have spent this evening wall mounting the TV and since I have finished everything is so far still working fine via HDMI 4.This TV is 8kg lighter than my old 42" which made the job all the more easier.

Finished wall mounting the Tv last night, added my lights and just need to extend the mains cable so I can tidy it up a bit.

Looks good up there pitstopguido. Quality bachelor pad style... besides the token candle
Did you get your cabling and your HDMI 1 bits sorted?

Not tried HDMI 1 on the TV since moving to HDMI 4 as it's working fine there, will order some new cables this weekend anyway but the ones I currently have are good quality and only a couple of years old.

Bachelor pad? Haha, no i'm lucky that I have a Mrs that likes all this gear even if she doesn't fully understand it. The candle is her contribution.

Yeah, that's what I meant... man styled but with the single obvious womans touch element.

Think yourself lucky I need a new panel in mine so aesthetics are a mere side issue ATM.

Did you lose any settings by unplugging the set?

I have noticed reduced brightness on getting back to 1015 from when I did it first time round.

I have been very pleased with my 64D8000. However, I’ve noticed the top 1/3 of the TV is brighter. I’ve indicated the position with ared marker on the image below. Does anyone else have this issue?

The TV has always has some line-bleed when dark text is on alight background, but this is different. Particularly noticeable on shots of cloudy skys, when the camera is panning, because although the clouds are movingthe 1/3 band remains constant.

Not sure whether to contact Samsung or live with it. Becauseapart from this the panel is fantastic!

Sorry about the Moire effect in the photo.

I have the same issue, although I have 2 horizontal lines, I only noticed it when I was watching golf and the camera panned up, you could clearly see it then, I think this is some form of dse or where the filter is stuck poorly maybe
Shame really as with all things once seen

I also have it and notice it on pans on light backgrounds like skys. I think it is to do with the filter like you said as I noticed it on all three d8000s I've seen. Not sure if fit is just the price you pay for the filter. Tbh I can live with it but it can be annoying.

So no point in swapping the set out for this horizontal line issue then as most sets seem to have it?

No idea, I'd be interested to know this too. I'm still on 1021.

I would not swap this set because of the horizontal issue (dse?) Not unless it get's a lot lot worse.

Apparently ITV Player is supposed to be available to download. Does the latest firmware need to be installed for this to appear? I can't see it and I'm loathe to give up on 1015 just so the missus can catch up on Corrie!! :-D

I would highly suspect this to be the case as I cannot get Netflix.

Also I would suggest you stick with 1015 as when you upgrade up from it IMO and mean IMO the brightness is not as good but what is worse is that even if you go back to 1015 it isnt as good as it was first time round. Dont ask me why

I most certainly do intend to stick with 1015 thanks mate.

I have the Netflix app installed on 1015- do you mean that you can't install it or just that it won't work on this fw?

The latter ..... it will not work ..... asks you to update the sofware i.e. the FW
