No updates on this thread?

Looks like LG are giving up on Plasmas given the lack of effort here!

Thought the price of the 60PM670T looked very competitive, but need some reassurances (i've never had a Plasma before) that it isn't going to be a lame duck.

Anyone purchased one yet? Opinions?

I got replacement from LG lcd full hd 1080p 47" to pm470T plasma tv. I am really disappointed with the picture quality of latest plasma from LG. I liked new hardware improvements but the picture quality, which is the I believe is the most important functionality of the tv, is not very impressive for this range of models.

I believe the main reason could be due to the 1080i plasma screen. Otherwise, I got two 3 years old full hd Samsung plasma tv's in my sister's home. Their picture quality is superb.

Since It's a replacement tv and i made a wrong choice, while picking up half of the resolution tv, LG probably won't do any replacement etc. (

Since my 47" LCD Full HD TV got broken and it was out of warranty, I contacted LG customer service but I was denied for any sort of help. One very decent guy from LG customer services came out and offered me his help. Since this set was NOT repairable, this nice guys offered me for a replacement but I was NOT given very good options to chose but I went after the best available option. I thought due to picture upscaling technology and latest innovations, I thought its better to get something then nothing. Now I might have to put this tv on ebay as a last option.

here is the the link of first thread about my previous LG TV.

Just bought one of these to try it out. I'm coming from a full LED backlit TV (see signature). I've always been drawn to Plasma due to the 'naturalness' of the image - LCD always looks a bit hyper-real to me in terms of detail levels, and motion is compromised. I decided to take the punt on LG as Panny plasmas flicker and show green flashing on motion to my eyes (not talking about the 50hz issues) - I had a 2009-10 Panny plasma that I tried living with for 6 months before selling it on. I had something of a nightmare with Samsung CS on a LCD set a number of years ago, so vowed never to buy one of their sets again, so that only left LG.

So, what's it like? Well, as noted in the AV Forums review, the Achilles heel is black level response/contrast, which is enough to make images watchable, but could comfortably be outperformed by several edge-lit LCD sets. That, and the mirror reflective screen. However, motion is excellent, detail and colour great and the feature set stupendous. 3D performance was better than I was expecting, but then my expectations were pretty low. Glasses (LG's own) buzz annoyingly - take it this is a 'normal' feature of active tech? Have not done any gaming (worried about screen burn until the 100+ hours mark), so can't comment re: lag. My reactions are getting so slow that I may not notice the input lag anyway.

In summary, the LG feels (and I'd argue looks) like a premium TV at a less than premium price - I managed to get it free delivery from my local RS for £650, including a free set of 3D glasses. No TV is perfect (far from it in my experience), and I really wish black levels were better, but so far (note the caveat) this is looking very much like a keeper. Watching the Olympics on Freeview HD is hugely enjoyable, and that is without any calibration (just using minor tweaks on the default Expert settings re: keeping overall image brightness down while the set beds in). Likewise, movies are, well, very filmic. Watched Cloverfield last night and was blown away by how drawn into the movie I was and by how cinematic watching the screen felt. It handles 24hz flawlessly as far as I can see.

One other comment - temporary image retention seems to be an issue, at least from new. Can easily see trace images of menus, bars from 2.xx ratio movies, etc on a black screen when switching inputs. Disappears quickly, but noticeable none the less. Will this improve with time as the phosphors bed in? Anyone know, either with experience of this set or other LG plasmas?

Part of me wonders what the PM970 range is like, with the Tru Black filter. I had read some bad things about the 2011 filter from LG (did not add much to the black levels and was visible in daylight), so unless they have improved it, I doubt it makes much difference. Also, I think that chicken leg stand on the PM970 range is awful looking - much prefer the look of the PM670 range.

So, so far, so impressed. A great set at a great price. Oh, and Smart TV is excellent. Lovefilm in HD great.

Just ordered one of these from John Lewis under their price match (£599 price matched with Electrocentre).

Interested in any other comments people have and any settings to optimise the picture.

This is my first plasma, slightly worried about the mirror-like finish and reflections.

Cheers

I picked one of these up from RS, price matched to Electrocentre.
I am very happy with it, the smart functions out perform my HTPC for most stuff.

Hi.. Just got this tv and wonder why I get the horrible soap opera effect on some inputs? TruMotion is set to off but it seems not to affect all inputs? I activated the share function wich is excellent but somehow I got this horrible effect on all movies that I stream...

LG have released a software update which fixes the problem.

Lovefilm has stopped working for me, since the weekend. Keep being asked to sign in, and then get a status message saying there has been a problem connecting and service will resume shortly. Other apps like Iplayer still work.

Anyone else having this issue?

Not many views on this set here, I have been having an absolute nightmare with my Panasonic ST50, seven sets now and all have terrible vertical banding and DFC is shocking as is dither. But black levels are superb...what is your honest opinion on the LG670 plasma, is it a bright screen, does it work well in daylight, and is the black level really as bad as some say it is. Many thanks for any replies as I am going to have to get a different set from my retailer, as it is now evident that this years Panasonic range is badly flawed.

My honest opinion is that it is a good set, but black levels are poor. There is no doubt. I think you'll be shocked coming from a Panny. There is good shadow detailing and because gamma is good, the image has decent depth. However, in a dark room, blacks are much greyer than they should really be.

But black levels are only one part of a good picture. There is no DSE or banding on my set at all, motion is excellent (yet to see any DFC effects) and colour reproduction is very good indeed. I've adjusted to the blacks - wish they were better and this would be a killer TV, but it represents a good compromise for the moment and was inexpensive. Put it this way, despite the FAR superior black levels of my previous full LED backlit (so proper LED auto dimming) 46inch Toshiba, I would not go back to it.

There is no screen filter and the screen is highly reflective. This has an impact on performance in daylight conditions, though, of course. It is pretty bright, though.

Demo it. What have you got to lose?

I've the same issue on the 42LM640T. Only purchased yesterday but have this issue. No time to try the connection on anything but wireless. Any updates to the service working for you?

I deauthorised the TV as a device on my Lovefilm account, then set it up again on TV. Has been working ever since.

I managed to see that somewhere else, so quickly logged into my account online and had 3 out of 3 streaming devices activated. One of which was a faulty iPad I returned ages ago so have freed up a space.

Shall try later.

A quick question for anyone please who has price-matched with John Lewis. Did the honour the 5 year guarentee? If they did, was there a "debate" or just given?

Thanks in advance.

Although I am a tad curious (and concerned) that there doesn't seem to be a lot of posters regards this TV I have gone ahead and ordered one.

Price matched at £599 at John Lewis against Richer Sounds. They did include the five year warranty.

Looking forward to getting this set up, and have my first experience of 3D at home.

I think they are better than the official glasses (own both). They are heavier, but feel more robust and don't buzz like the LG glasses do.

I went for the official glasses - didn't think of copies to be honest!

Ended up paying £31.99 each. They are at that price here at Electrocentre:

LG AGS350 Active 3D Glasses

I didn't want to wait on postage so got RicherSounds to price match. I was quite pleased.

And got the dongle. £26.09 on Amazon. Alas, TV won't be here till next Monday.

Argus currently have the dongle for £24.99 and the glasses for £29.99.

Not much stock around though.

Finally arrived. All set up the way I wanted, sat down to watch it and there is a vertical line running down the entire lenth of the screen. I really could cry.
