Since beginning my picture periodically (about once a minute) breaks up (part of the screen is 'blocky') - mostly visible on HD channels.
Technician (from my cable TV provider) came yesterday, he measured signal, but didn't find anything wrong. I wonder if this can be an issue with TV itself ?
I use the built in DVB-C with a CI+ module and it's working beautifully, the only bad thing is that the build in guide is not as good as the one in my old cable box but it was nice to retire one of the external boxes.

The problem that you describe sounds like bad reception or interference since errors in the mpeg stream looks like blocks. Haven't those issues on my 64D8005 though.

Got my first bit of IR from last night gaming session...I say gaming more I fell asleep and must have touched buttons on my controller and this morning I could clearly see the stat numbers from FF13.
So Ive ran the PS3 music player (the one with the colours that shift around the screen) had that running for around 20mins and the IR has nearly shifted

I cant wait to see the new Samsungs if honest though end of the day I just want a set that does what my GT can but without the issue, if that means GT50 then fine, but I wont buy another Panasonic now. My dealer is pulling out all the stops (short of giving a direct refund), I'm hoping they can sort something with Panasonic so I can get a new Samsung ideally. I do feel for retailers over it, many cant afford the hit. Anyway I'm taking things off topic.

Get yourself out in the air for a few days mate, that or get some early nights he hee(says me).

Check the TV out with full screen slides to check for dead/stuck pixels etc.
Pop into movie mode, colour space to native should give you a decent image. I turn all other processing off.

If your happy with the image no need to update the fw. :-)

If you connect online to smart TV the TV will update the smart TV side of things, there's some free 3d to watch on that too :-)

Sit back and enjoy.

Have you noticed though that when watching some of the free 3d stuff on the samsung portal the tv's 3d depth is set to 5 and cant be adjusted but when watching a 3d BR its open fully at 10 and this too cannot be adjusted.

Im not complaining because it all looks pretty stunning i just wondered if it was a peculiarity of my tv or are they all the same?

If doin 2d>3d conversion you can adjust the depth from 1-10 no problems but for native 3d it seems to be preset.

As i said its not a problem or anything im just curious

on this tv ive set it to movie and put the brightness and contrast down to 40. A little dark but still watchable.

will this be ok for breakin?

any idea how i can get into the service menu to check hours etc etc

no dead pixels,. slides look good, nice not to see any green tinge

i need to read through parts 1 to 4 of the owners thread!

Not on my one. The sticker has model code, version number and S/N. Nothing there refers to a build date.

I haven't found how to check for running time, I guess this cannot be done with this set.

Chaps,

I hope someone can help me out with a quick question. I am considering one of these TVs but want to know what the score is with the Lovefilm and the Netflix apps.

According to the Samsung website the Lovefilm app is "coming soon" and the Netflix app appears to be already available?

Is that the case? Can anyone comment on either of these (quality, ease of use etc)? Would I just be better off getting some other device to act as my "streaming" box (XBox 360 or something)?

Any help appreciated.

Regards,

SF

Yes you are correct, Netfilx is already available but you have to upgrade to the latest firmware to run it even though it can be installed on a lower F/W as the Smart Hub updates independently...

I have only used it on trial, it's easy to setup and use, not the fastest thing in the world but tbh the smart hub is no whizz kid anyway

I have used other movie streaming services on PS3 and Apple TV and stuff and they function quicker and a little slicker imho but obviously network speed is not relevant as this is down to your Broadband speed anyway...

The D8000 plasma is a very, very good TV and no bad place to start for a screen but buying it based on a streaming service is maybe not the best but certainly capable...

Not sure when Lovefilm will appear though... - Yeah it's there
