Sigh. I get extremely depressed when I read the following:

"Fitness: Now you can maintain a healthy lifestyle with Samsung Smart TV’s Fitness. Exercise at
home through the video-on-demand service and manage your workout history. You can also track
your progress by downloading the Exercise App onto your mobile device."

You'll probably be more depressed when the prices come out for the 2012 sets.

I thought Samsung used to be 50" + 1(51") and 58" +1(59"). The new one i would guess is 60" but actually measures 59.9" according to the Spec posted in this thread.

Cant wait for the Sammy Plasma's to be released, Infact I can't wait for some reviews. I've got a HX923 but I'm always looking to upgrade lol.

Not too fused about the Panasonics, ST50 isn't good enough, The GT50 Doesn't come in a 55", And the VT50, Unless its alot brighter is also a no go.

Based on what - design, features or picture quality??

Until we start seeing reviews it would be folly to say who has produced the best plasma range this year ...

Design - Too thick, Only 3 HDMI ports.

PQ- I doubt it will be as good as my HX923 or the new Sammys. Fears over brighnesss fluctuations, Blacks not as good as the ST30, So they wont be a patch on the VT50, HX923, or Even the Flagship Sammy.

But yeah your right, Untill the reviews are out we can't write no set off.

You basing this on US versions?
You seen the ST50 review right?

Does anyone know the thickness of the ST50? I cant find the info anywhere. I've just seen a picture and it looks quite thick in comparison to other sets.

They could surprise - you never know until reviews start popping up.

Some people seem to be thinking it is only Panasonic Vs Samsung from now on and I think that may be jumping the gun a bit based on one pretty average plasma output year from LG.

Time will tell I guess ... and it depends how much attention LG are paying to the plasma range (which doesn't seem a lot based on their marketing). They still seem to be focussing on Smart TV and 3D.

Have to say if LG put some effort in I reckon they would be a very good choice
Love their styling, menu's and overall picture, with better blacks and decent 3d they could be the dark horse

I did think(hoped) that in 2011 it would be Panasonic v LG going by the 2010 effort, instead it was Samsung that stepped up. I think LG will be LED and OLED next year, at CES LG had their plasmas hidden away out of view almost and the 2011 sets weren't much different to the 2010 sets.

Mind you if you tweak the pots you can get Panny/Samsung blacks
LG Plasma Panel tweaks for better blacks. - Page 37 - AVS Forum
Although it seems LG are on the case now

If they could sort out a decent screen filter I'd probably nab a set

Samsung 2012 TV Briefing Mar 6, 2012

We measured the peak-white and black levels (36.5 and 0.006fL for a contrast ratio of 6083:1), but not the grayscale or colorimetry. The black level here was 30 percent lower than we got on last year's PN59D8000 flagship plasma (0.009fL), confirming Samsung's claim that it has lowered the black level on this year's plasmas. Real-world content looked gorgeous, with rich colors, exceptional detail, and no motion blur or soap-opera effect.

So I guess, on the contrary with the first reports, there will be no 43” E550:

"Turning to plasma TVs, most of which will be available this month, the flagship E8000 line includes three sizes—51, 60, and 64 inches—at prices from $2200 to $3950. The same sizes are available in the step-down E7000 and E550 lines ($1200 to $3400), while the E6500 and E530 lines are available at 51 and 60 inches for $1000 to $2200."
