@ Shagger

Shagger did you hear anymore from your mate with his Kuro and his Darbee ?...

I'm definitely going to buy one soon. Just can't make up my mind if i want to integrate it with the Lumi when i get that too or keep it just for gaming.

If yu get a lumagen you won't need the Darbee in my opinion

Hi Guys

I haven't posted in a while but just wanted to pick your brains on a small something.

The KRP600A that I have recently got got makes quite a lot of little clicks and popping noises from round the back of the TV - they sound like static. I have been advised that they are due to the tv heating up and plastic etc expanding in the heat. The TV will do this regularly for a long time, perhaps an hour or so, then it seems to settle down. It can be quite annoying.

I have had a Pioneer service centre out and they have taken the back panel off and tightened everything up but the TV still does it. It did improve things a little bit. Has anybody else got a TV that does this? My old LX5090 did not do it.

The TV has had a small voltage adjustment to RST-P to drop the MLL - this could not have any effect on the TV to cause this could it? Wouldn't cause the TV to run hotter or anything like that would it?

Any suggestions on how to cure it? The Pio call out/work has cost me £100 and I was really hoping it would rid me of it but to no avail. The engineer who called out had not seen this issue before.

Apart from that - the TV is bl@@dy fantastic!

Cheers.
Mike.

he told me stu that his picture has more depth and is clearer lol his words in a text message, his screen is uncalibrated, so to me maybe he would of been better to spend the money on a calibration and not the darbee

Mike if anything it would make it run cooler. Played a lot with RST P, and the higher the number the more it buzzes. Not clicking or creaking though

Hi Stu

Thanks for the reply.

Must be one of them things with the TV. If anyone else has got any theories, please let me know.

The Olympics has been looking amazing on it!

Cheers.

Hi again Mike.

Thinking again it could be the power supply unit, not necessarily faulty though. I haven't spent any longer than 20 minutes with a 60" 9G, and that was in a demo room with surround speakers on, so unable to properly comment on that. Does it come from the middle back ?, assuming the power supply unit is in roughly the same position as the 50"

Hi Stu

No it comes from all over the back of the panel, not just from one point. Pio service guy said everything was working fine.

It is a click here and there at dfferent pitches. Sometimes they are close together. Then it settles down once the TV has been on a while. The occasional one is quite loud. I sit 14 feet away from the TV and can clearly hear the loud ones.

Cheers.
Mike.

I understand what you are trying to say. But i think for such a low price as that, that it would be worth my while buying one anyway. I wont have the lumagen for about 3 months yet, and this within the next month. And if i prefer the ISF'd KRP with the calibrated reference Lumagen on their own - well i have still got the Darbee for less capable equipment, but i will try it on it's own with the Kuro first - then all three. I am going to buy a cheaper 2nd hand 50"plasma for round about the £500 mark early in the new year for the front room, and it may come in handy.

Hi Shagger

Just put the Tv on and I'm sat here listening to it click every 10 seconds or so at the moment. Seems a bit worse tonight. It's one of those things that once you hear it, you are sat there listening for it. If you can hear it from 14 feet away with the volume on normal on the TV then you wonder if there is a fault with the set.

Just like when you spot the red tint - lol

I don't think its faulty, I just think its one of them things. Picture is breathtaking though.

Always loved my lx5090h but the extra screen size of this KRP means I can never go smaller now. So have you go a spare £5000 to lend me for a 65" VT50 and a Lumigen to get a picture that is equal to what I've already got? ;-)

Hi Shagger

Thanks mate. I'm sure too. It is just a bit annoying.

It has to be something inside heating up an expanding. I've just switched the set off about 10 mins ago and the clicks started up again after the set was off almost like stuff cooling and returning back.

I think the only thing the Pio service centre could do now is to take it in and completely disassemble it! Ha would be very expensive and I'd probably lose all my ISF Night settings. I ain't doing that

Yeah Mike chances are it's just the bigger size of the screen overall = louder sounds with more heat etc. It's probably to be expected.

Anyone with a 9G tried playing PS3 or 360 with Pure Cinema activated on "smooth". I remember reading somewhere ages ago now that this might actually work whilst gaming...

I have tried it on game AV mode with NFS Hot Pursuit, Metro 2033 quickly but can't make up my mind if it looks better or not. Or if it just looks too processed. Also i don't remember if this was suggested with Game control Pref to be on or off ?

Smooth does not work.

It's a frame interpolation and a badly implemented one. It causes tearing and stuttering if movement is quicker than the processing can handle.

Like a couple of things in the menu descriptions on these sets, what it does has been lost in translation.

Hi fellas, (mostly) happy new Kuro owner here. I bought my LX5090 in May, and was all set for the olympics - when suddenly, the digital tuner would start resetting the TV channel memory every time I turned the set off. I tried rescanning a few times, but after turning the set off an on again - poof. All channels gone. The tv goes straight into setup, when selecting aerial/tv as the input source.

2 weeks ago, things got worse. I now cannot even get a tv signal anymore - I tried running a signal test from the TV's menu, but no luck. And no signal.

It sounds to me like a busted tuner, but will this be covered by the extended warranty? I had it transferred to me, when I bought the TV...

Hi all

Anyone on here with a KRP or LXH use the built in satelitte receiver?

I've just noticed that my BBCHD and BBC1HD have vanished and no matter how many times I rescan, I can't find them. Still got ITVHD and C4HD, but the two beebs have gone. Bloody typical as the Olympics has looked stunning.

I'm used to channels disapearing but I've always managed to find them again after rescanning.

Cheers.

Hi Stu

I have contacted Pio before and they just recommend rescanning. Had to watch the end of the Olympics in standard def - tell you what though, the KRP still did a damn fine job of showing that on a 60" screen!

Been rescanning every night - no sign of them yet, mate.

It's not the end of the world as I've still got ITVHD and C4HD.

Hopefully they'll just pop up again at some point :-)
