I see the 50 and 60" screens for this model have begun to ship in the states.

Is there a UK shipping date yet for this model?

Blimey it's a bit quiet in here isn't it! Saw the 50PZ550T in Currys earlier, £999 so thought it was worth bumping this thread and see if anyone can give us any more useful info on it

Cheers

Hitting stores now -
Its not a smart tv however. The pz570t is the tv which offers smart tv but apart that very similar to the 550. Sorry for not responding quicker to this thread - I had missed it. Using the av forums app for IOS, LOVE IT !

George, how does the panel on this compare to the 950T (same?) and how does it compare to the PX990 panel, have there been any improvements made? Shame about the lack of smart tv but I guess that could be added later using the seperate box, presumably that would mean losing an hdmi input though?

Another anti-tumbleweed post...

Saw this in Currys at lunchtime (£999), looks very nice I must say. Glasses half price when bought at the same time as the tv. I know the PZ570 comes with 1 pair of glasses cos it said so on the box but does the PZ550 come with any pairs of glasses does anyone know?
Bit confused cos the 50" PZ550T isn't on the Currys website at all but there is a 50PZ250T on there which is £999 the same price as the PZ550T was instore

Cheers

Trying to find information on this TV is like blood from a stone. Put it into google and this thread is the top hit.

Can't find any information anywhere.

What i'm curious about is why LG have made so many plasma models when apparently Cinema 3D is most popular

Hi mate

Most people buying plasmas will be buying it primarily for its 2D pic but you may aswell get a 3D plasma to cover yourself or is that just me

Regards still 2D Martin

Hey fella ,
I guess your right, For me 3D is just , I have several titles now and from the first time i saw it at the flicks i was hooked,
Sometimes my PX can look absoloutely stunning in 2D HD , Trouble is its not often enough now, Im pretty fed up with 'Dark films and try to avoid them until i get something better ,

I could well be going Plasma or LED, Passive or Active, 50 " or 55" , only time will tell ,
Good to speak to you sir ,
regards Martin any kind of D

If I were to get a new plasma I would get a 3D but probably wouldnt use it.

Went to see Avatar in 3D at cinema and left there pretty underwelmed by 3D.Expected to be wowed considering the last time I went to the cinema was to see Videodrome

Think ill keep the 590 for a couple more years unless this years models are seriously good.

Regards Marmite

I can't believe you were underwhelmed , are you sure you had the glasses on , I must admit i went with trepidation as i had tried the Anaglyph rubbish a few times , But when it happened i was just sat there in awe , When we left the cinema the first thing my good wife said was 'Oh no' , she new what was to follow ,

The 590 is a great tv for the money and i think it would have been a lot less hassle if i had just kept it ,
Watched magamind the other day and some of the 3D was even on the PX,

Regards Mart

PX9 has a Tru-black filter whereas there is no Tru-black filter on the PZ550T.

Also the PZ550T is going to be another DSGi exclusive I think for the short term so it will only be sold by Currys, Dixons and PC World.

The 60" is live on the above for around £1799 i believe.

50" will be updated within the next 7 days i'm sure...

George

Has anyone got one of these? I can't believe its so quiet in here. expecting mine to be delivered next thursday(1st)

Hopefully the information will improve as it is now on offer at pc world etc, got mine for £569(using 'tele5off' as a promotional code) and then got £14 back with quidco, so effectively £555

Even better as I got an lg 50pt353k free with my phone contract and as they didn't deliver within 28days they gave me £530 so I could go and get my own.

I'm looking forward to my £25 tv It will be my first 3d and my first hd. Always managed with hand me down crts etc

Rob

Just got one of these for £599 at Currys. A special offer over the weekend. Im replacing my 2 year old 50PQ3000, which is only HD ready.
Im finding the blacks inferior to the PQ3000 and getting a picture setup i like is proving very difficult, but i dont have my calibration BR anymore. Ill have to order one. Plasmas do take a while to bed in, so i might wait a week or so before passing final comment. I do remember having a bit of difficulty with the PQ3000 as well early on.

One thing that stands out is that the horizontal sharpening was much to high. Try setting it to about 35.

3D works really well. I have a few 3D movies and files and they all look great. You really need to have the TV in 'Just Scan' mode though to reduce ghosting and blurring at the horizontal edges of the screen.

The network connection is only for firmware updates, it has no smart functions. Not something i care about because its connected to my PC.

Hi

I've just got one from Currys, well on Friday. Pleased with it so far and have it on low energy picture setting to let the panel bed in.

3D is excellent on Sky HD, though haven't tried a 3D Blu Ray yet. has anyone got any different picture settings for optimisation ?

Hello Hullmacken.

hope you are enjoying your new set? I am considering either this set or the 50pz250t which, as far as i can tell is the same TV minus the THX 3D (whatever that means) and its approx £60 cheaper.

Have you witnessed any negatives in 3D viewing? because I will be buying this solely as a 3D Gaming TV.

Your input would be appreciated.

Thanks

So far so good, I've got it on low settings currently for a week or so to bed the panel in. The picture quality blows away my old 42PC1D, far superior.

3d is excellent, though I think I'm one of those people who wont be able to watch a lot of it.

Its well worth the £599 I paid at Currys (so far), all the other 50" Plasma's were the same price but without 3D.

Does anyone know how to get in the service menu ? so I can check how many hours I've used it for ?

I think the 550t does 2d to 3d also, don't think the 250 does.

The 250T actually does 2D > 3D as well, after comparing both, the only difference I found was that the 550 was THX certified and had THX 3D.
