some quick 1st impressions... vanilla settings, not had much time to muck about with the menus etc..

Pros..
No buzzing or hum....
No crosstalk...
No flashing on 3D Blu-Ray...
Blacks are black...
No motion judder that I could see..
2D to 3D is actually quite good its not pop out, just adds some depth to the picture and is not just a gimmick it works quite well.
HD pictures are stunning espc the discovery and luxe chanels.. as are the upscaled DVD pics.. Planet Earth Blu-ray is just wow..
3D from sky and Blu-ray is flawless, however sky 3d does tend to flash every once in a while, its milli secs and noticable but its not distracting and does not ruin the experience..

Cons....
SD pics are not as good as I had hoped, they tend to look smudged I hope its a source issue and not the scaler and will improve over time..

for the moment thats it.. as I said this is just 1st impressions with vanilla settings.. and I am very pleased, it looks like I got a TV that doesn't seem to suffer the problems others have had..

anyways there is no bigger critic than my other half as she has no interest in tech etc, all she sees is over £2k spent that could have went towards a new kitchen but she changed her tune last night... she was impressed, very impressed "wow this is brilliant" when watching MVA and the "pic is very good" when watching normal sky... high praise indeed.. will post some pics and a more indepth review over the w/end.. when had more time to play with the settings etc...

Super Stardust HD... I've already got it - didn't realise that it had the 3D switched on already (as that's one of the ones on Sony's Japan list). I'll have a try tonight.

Currently there is Invincible Tiger and Avatar (as far as I know), but these both use side-by-side, or top-and-bottom splitscreen to allow the TV to do the effect - I'm not sure that this is how the REAL 3D stuff will work (such as 3D Blu Ray and 3D Games).

Can't wait for Wipeout HD to go 3D - it looks amazing just with the 2D-3D conversion switched on.

Watched the German Avatar clip last night - no problems what so ever - although I'm not convinced of the quality of the clip, seemed more of a 2D-3D conversion compared to the effect I remember in the cinema.

Looks like there may be a problem with mine Last night the TV turned itself off and back on again in a split second. It did it again this morning and my wife told me the kids said it had done it a couple of times yesterday during the day.

Looks like a call to Samsung about this as trawling through the web this appears to be a common problem with Samsung TV's

They just contacted me today that the production delay has resulted in the TV arriving in July now (and has been updated on their website also).

I would suggest not buying the TV from a website that has it in stock already, as it is most likely old stock, and will most likely need to be recalled/updated.

Waiting for it will only mean that you will get a TV that doesnt cause u hassle further along down the line (hopefully).

Hope this helps

Not sure that's a fair thing to say.
As you mentioned, there's a production delay - which does not dictate a fault with the set, but more with the speed of production (e.g. Real Black Filter taking longer than expected)

Also, even the great Apple have production delays (aka hype-building).

More and more people on this forum are having a great experience with these sets... so if you can get one - great.
Unless Samsung actually come out and say there needs to be a recall, it's probably best not to speculate.

Good stuff!

Just wondering if you noticed a difference in 3d quality with m vs a when comparing Blu ray players. Many people in the states have stated the panny produces less to no ghosting on the led sets when compared with the sammy player.

you're probs right - most people are saying it is a problem with the Real Black Filter production (which means there is nothing wrong with getting it from a place in stock now).

But then there are posts saying it could be a processor fault, or a software issue. As neither Samsung, nor any retailer is being truly forthcoming regarding the reason for the delay, i would just personally suggest waiting a few weeks until there are a few more units about and more reviews etc...

it's highly unlikely that demand has outstripped supply for this TV (and hence why it is out of stock everywhere), as it is a relatively new TV and ther average consumer in these next few weeks is more likely to purchase a TV heavily marketed and advertised for the World Cup (i.e. last year models retailers are trying to get rid of).

But like you said, there is no point jumping to assumptions on all this, just thought i'd might put it out there that it might be better to wait.

i think all this about a problem with real black is crap
as others in the eu have them like spain

i be thinking that dixons noted comet got a cheap 3d tv
and asked samsung for all there stock as dixons has loads of stock but did not list the tv when comet 1st had stock

Hi J2001M,

I can confirm that the auto update feature is turned off. I updated to the latest firmware on Monday. the only thing that is different is that i plugged in a usb drive to test the recording feature Tuesday night and it was Wednesday and today that the problem started. I have now this evening removed the usb drive so will see if that had anything to do with it.

It is worrying though the amount of threads that pop up when you search on google for it

Sounds a great idea. Where do I find out about this offer? Who do I need to call? Thanks. Did you know that you can get a pair of free glasses from Samsung when you go to their site and enter serial no. etc. on a form after buying 3d tv. I have the 50c7000 and the lcd 46c7000 side by side and the plasma beats the lcd hands down in my opinion. The pic and sound are better and no ghosting in a more natural picture. LCD is good and brighter but I prefer the plasma. I might keep the LCD as a monitor or take it back to costco as they have a 90 day quibble free return policy. 50 c7000 cost me £1440 plus £200 BD spinner and £70 sony photo frame thrown in from comet last week with a discount voucher. Like it so much have just ordered a 63c7000 for £2075 after cashback from very via qiudco. Will arrive sometime in July.

Well colour me corrected...

Super Stardust HD is already 'proper' 3D - and it looks GORGEOUS!

I start up the full game and it tells my TV (via amp) that it's a 3D game and the TV asks me to turn my 3D glasses on (none of this pressing the 3D button).

I quite liked this game as an early PS3 release, and now it looks incredible.
More just a sense of depth than anything, but some explosions really come out of the screen and feel as though the pixels are coming right for ya.

I can't wait for the patch for Wipeout HD!!

Will arrive sometime in July.

its on the panasoinc website
its on the thread wheres all the 3d content

I start up the full game and it tells my TV (via amp) that it's a 3D game and the TV asks me to turn my 3D glasses on (none of this pressing the 3D button).

I quite liked this game as an early PS3 release, and now it looks incredible.
More just a sense of depth than anything, but some explosions really come out of the screen and feel as though the pixels are coming right for ya.

I can't wait for the patch for Wipeout HD!!
Tried Stardust earlier and it wasn't 3D for me - did you only just buy it, or did you get an update?

Hi,

been reading around here and it sounds pretty positive stuff on both the lcd/plasma units and im still deciding which one to go for.

im torn between 46c750 and the ps50c7000

Quick question is the offer for free 3d bluray player still on?

Or is it just the glasses that are free?

Also as iv not seen any reviews of the 50c7000 does anyone have any links or exp on how the 2d panel performs, compared to say the g20 which seems to have expeceptional reviews.
