Panasonic 46" models

I have narrowed my choice down to the two 46" models from Panasonic, the one with freesat and the one without, apart from the Freesat, is there any difference between these two models, thanks for any info

Edit: just one more thing, am I right in thinking you could output freesat via one of the scart connections, I can do that with my current pv500 (freeview) I feed it to a non freeview dvd recorder

Re: Panasonic 46" models

There's the 46PZ8, 46PZ80, 46PZ85 and 46PZ81(Freesat) . The Panasonic web site will compare the models for you. The Z8 is lowest spec, wouldnt bother with that.

Yes, you can output the Freesat source to a recorder.

Re: Panasonic 46" models

Thanks for that, I have just compared the various models, they all seem to be much the same,

in real life is there going to be any difference in picture quality between the different 46" models?

I like the idea of freesat on board, but would not want to compromise picture quality.

Re: Panasonic 46" models

If you haven't already done so, might be worth reading the reviews on HDTVtest.

The sizes of the TV's on review are not 46", but should give you an idea.

Panasonic TH42PZ80 / TH42PZ80B Review: 42" Viera Plasma HDTV

Panasonic TH50PZ81B / TH50PZ81 Review

Panasonic TH42PZ85B Review – 42” 1080p Plasma HDTV

Panasonic TH50PZ800B / TH50PZ800 Review

I've got the 50PZ80 myself which I received on Friday, and I am very happy with it.

The PZ8 will be lower PQ to the Z80/81/85, which are all similar (same panel, processor, contrast..), just different bells/whistles. The Z80/81 have the third HDMI at the front, whereas it's on the side with the 85(which people seem to prefer, if they indeed they are using it). 81 has PIP and plays video off SD card. Sound is better on 85 (BBE surround). 80 doesnt have digital audio out nor IFC.

the PZ85 has IFC and better sound. IFC seems a bit of a marmite function.
