The new Panasonic TH-42PZ80B

Hi

I've been looking at buying the Panasonic PZ70 but just found this:

http://www.av-sales.co.uk/Plasma-TVs...80B-392-16.htm

The price is no different to the PZ70 but the specs are better with just a month to go to its available am I better waiting?

I can't see anything in the dealers small print about putting the price of a pre-ordered item up; has anyone brought anything from this dealer before?

I saw the TH37PX80 yesterday and was very impressed with the picture but I'd rather have a 42" from the Z series.

Re: The new Panasonic TH-42PZ80B

I'd certainly wait the the 80 model. with 24p and higher contrast, would seem well worth it. it seemed to have a good picture quality although when i saw it it wasn't next to last years model.
the PX70 to PX80 picture difference isn't huge but you can definitely tell the colouring is better off the 80 not sure if the 100HZ alters PQ that much ran a motion test on both and there was very little difference but then plasma's have always been good handling motion.

Good point.

My understanding would be once you place an order for a product & the seller accepts then the price agreed at that time is the contractual & binding price. The seller has a limited right to amend this price under certain conditions but you equally have the right to pull out the deal with a full refund if she does increase the original price that was agreed when ordered.

I'm not too well up on UK law so take the above reply as my opinion only, perhaps someone more knowledgeable of the law regarding retail sales can be more definitive.

But probably the best way to be certain is phone AV Sales & ask them

Thanks Ron for that,

I'll add them to my trusted sellers list when it's time to buy my new Paasonic TV. I'm holding back from ordering though until I can actually see them in the flesh, the wait is agonisingly painful

Re: The new Panasonic TH-42PZ80B

Well, I called AV and a nice lady took the message and said she'd get someone to call me back Monday as the sales team don't work weekends

Thanks for the recomendatin Ron; if AV honour the £958 price without any increases nearer to the release date I'll definately pre-order this TV.

Re: The new Panasonic TH-42PZ80B

Hello,

Looking forward to some review of this and the PZ85. Look like they might be just what I am after. Hopefully top notch video game performance.
What would be the differences to weigh up between the PZ80 and PZ85?
Seems that the 42" versions will differ by £100-200.
Save the pennies for the PZ80?

Re: The new Panasonic TH-42PZ80B

Well I just saw the new TH-42PX80 hanging directly over the TH-42PZ70 in a brightly lit showroom. Both TV's were playing Ice Age 2 on Blu-ray and there was definately an improvement in the quality of the picture on the PX80 compared to the PZ70; surely it must follow then that the PZ80 will be even better still

After seeing this I'm so glad I didn't rush into buying the PZ70. The salesman told me he expects the PZ80 in early April but wouldn't commit to a price. This is the second salesman, in different showrooms, in the last 2 days to tell me early April so looks like only a 4 week wait

Re: The new Panasonic TH-42PZ80B

I'm confused.

Is the PZ80 full HD or just HD ready?

I'm about to order, and regardless of the 'Z70 suffers from judder' issues (blind to some it would seem) I'm looking to opt for this because I can find it for £770 including delivery - which is an amazing price.

However, the reason I was looking at the Z80 was because it DOES support 24p in the proper fashion - however, if you look at the digital direct website and look at the specs for the Z80 and then the Z85, it seems like the Z85 is the Full HD version and not the Z80.

Wouldn't this make the Z70 a better choice than the Z80?

Could really do with some clarification on this.

the PZ range are full HD i.e. 1080P
the PX range are HD ready. 1080i/720P
