Philips vs Samsung

Hello all,

I´m looking for a 42´ Plasma TV .I was considering the Samsung PS42C91(C96) but all the issues (jaggies, judder dancing green pixels) reported by this forum members and also by AVS Forums members on the american model made me very reluctant. After reading through this thread i´m very interested on the Philips set.

Did anyone noticed any of the mentioned issues on the Philips ?

I´ve seen both sets side by side on stores but the Philips was always conected to a HDMI splitter together with two Kuro Pioneers ,and the Samsung was conected to a HD player (don´t know which one) ,so the PQ on the Philips was a bit disappointing compared with the Samsung. And the Sammy looks just a little bit more appealing (the wife says it will look better on the living room . Also I love football she hates it -,and i said to her that one of the issues of the Sammy was when watching football some judder appears so i don´t know if she really finds the Sammy better looking or if she just finally found a way of putting me off the game ) . The thing is don´t want a better looking set but that has serious issues .

Did anyone compared both sets before buying ?
Which one did you choose and why ?

Thanks in advance for any replies and sorry for my english

Re: Philips vs Samsung

Forget phillips. What's wrong with a pana ? I have a kuro, i know they're a lot more, but they're brilliant.

Re: Philips vs Samsung

Thanks for your reply Ozzy189.

If i could choose i would certainly go fot the Pioneer, but it´s just too much for my budget .

In my country the Pana 42px70 costs a lot more than the Philips or the Sammy,so my decision has to be made between these two .Also i will be watching mainly SD cable TV and upscaled DVDs with my Pioneer Dv696 so i just want a low/medium budget set with good PQ and without any of the serious issues i´ve been reading about .Maybe in the future i will get a PS3 or XBOX console.

I forgot to mention that the Philips model is 42PFP5332D.It´s a new 2007 model and people say it has good PQ.Did you compared it with other sets?

Cheers

Re: Philips vs Samsung

I have seen a few philips, but i've never been impressed, the newer ones aren't that well regarded. Maybe a new samsung would be ok. have a look on here.
