LG 50PC55 too good to be true??

I would like to upgrade my existing LG 42" plasma to a 50" with 1080p and IDT.

Is the 50PC55 a European set?

I've seen it on several websites and they all list it as a true 1080p panel, ie. 1920 x 1080 pixels.

It can be found for as cheap as £1,400 which seems very cheap!!!

Any info would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Blimey!!!!

I've been waiting for the 50px70 from panasonic to be at JL.....

this link http://www.247electrical.co.uk/epage...PC55?SOURCE=AW
suggests it is true HD (1920 x 1080)

Anyone?

Indeed, it does seem too good to be true!!!

Probably.

Fuller spec here - even the contrast ratio looks great!:

And top it all, claims it accepts a 24p input!?!?!

but look at the resolution............

* Resolution: 1366 x 768p

This is too low for full HD, isn't it??

Re: LG 50PC55 too good to be true??

AJ Electronics show it as having full 1080p resolution...

http://www.ajelectronics.co.uk/ViewP...od_code=50PC55

Just no reviews so far.. Must be brand new.. LG invented plasma right? They should be at the cutting edge really, so maybe are able to release an advanced set for a very low price..

Yep, ur right, here's an official looking brochure, albeit in French, but its easy enough to decipher and this confirms its NOT a full HD set

http://www.cobrason.com/data/fr/pdf/50PC55.pdf

And review of 42" here:

http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/television...9290091,00.htm

In other words, move along people, nothing to see here ...

Re: LG 50PC55 too good to be true??

i was thoroughly impressed with the 50pc55. i have never had a large flat panel before and the colour and picture quality was awesome. it is very light too for such a large panel. since i am novice in my experiences with flat panel displays take my advice with a pinch of salt. nevertheless i think it is excellent. i paid 1100 pounds for it which is not bad. the screen accepts 1080p but turns it into 1080i i think. so it is not native 1080p. search on google/lg website for the 42pc55 instructions to get the full manual. i tested it with my ps3 (games and blu-ray) and also computer and the display was perfect. very bright display with little ghosting/retention on very low power/contrast/brightness setting.

Re: LG 50PC55 too good to be true??

The PC55 models are not full HD but 1366 x 768 (50") and 1024 x 768 (42").
PC 55 replaces the PC1D models. The new models accept 1080p: 24/30/50/60p and also include 100/120 Hz.
However PF95 is the Full HD 1920 x 1080 -now available at 60" later this year also at 50".

You can get the specifications here:
http://uk.lge.com/proddivergent.do?a...ategory_level=

There is interesting review in Swedish here:
http://prylportalen.mkf.se/ArticlePa...MKF857.dbp.asp

They compare the LG PC55 with Panasonic PX70 and conclusion is that both gives great picture-Panasonic is a bit softer and LG a bit sharper.
They also like the user settings possibility on LG-you can set individual colour settings etc... and the Clear filter which reduce the reflections.
They highly recommend the LG PC55 (5 stars).
